View Full Version : Can't reinstall SB

Spybot was freezing up when loading so I uninstalled it. I downloaded the latest version to reinstall but have an installation problem. After I press the "Install" button I get the following error:

"spybotsd162.tmp has encountered a problem and needs to close."

The Error signature is:

AppName: spybotsd162.tmp AppVer: 51.49.0.0 ModName: isxdl.dll
ModVer: 5.1.0.0 Offset: 00009504

Any suggestions as to the problem and how to solve it?

I am running Win XP SP3. I have also disabled my Avast antivirus shields while installing SB. I booted to my USB drive and ran SB and Avast from that in case I had picked up something that was preventing SB from working / installing. I have no malware that I'm aware of.

I could really use some help here as I'm at my wits end.

About the only thing I can think of to suggest is to clear out the Temp folder and try reinstalling.

I'm not sure if rebooting after you clean out the %temp% folder would help any,but I'll throw that in for a suggestion,just for the heck of it. :D:

Also,you might want to try redownloading the set-up file for Spybot after you clean out the temp folder,in case anything was corrupted during your first download,or some such snafu:
