The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "Win32.Sirefef" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:
Win32.Sirefef gets promoted via spam. It directs the user to a website faking youtube with porn videos. To watch the videos, the user is required to download and install Adobe flash. The linked download is a fake and installs the Trojan horse which will do further harm to the computer. Other versions of Win32.Sirefef also get promoted as other video codecs/players or updates and can also install rootkits.
Removal Instructions:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

A file with an unknown location named "QuickTimeCodecUpdate.exe".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\$NtUninstallKB19790$\1362224000\@".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\$NtUninstallKB19790$\1362224000\L\rrrviooe".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\$NtUninstallKB19790$\1362224000\loader.tlb".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\$NtUninstallKB19790$\1362224000\U\@00000001".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\$NtUninstallKB19790$\1362224000\U\@000000c0".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\$NtUninstallKB19790$\1362224000\U\@000000cb".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\$NtUninstallKB19790$\1362224000\U\@000000cf".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\$NtUninstallKB19790$\1362224000\U\@80000000".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\$NtUninstallKB19790$\1362224000\U\@800000c0".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\$NtUninstallKB19790$\1362224000\U\@800000cb".
The file at "<$WINDIR>\$NtUninstallKB19790$\1362224000\U\@800000cf".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Win32.Sirefef uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=8) or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) to remove them.

Folders:
