• Welcome Guest, to the Spybot Forums! It's 2025, and we just upgraded our forum software.

Today is Safer Internet Day, and with our new forum, you can finally use passkeys to login. That was about time!

Of course, you could ask if a forum is still useful, with so many social media networks out there where you might already have an account, and met a lot of users. You can now use your login from some of those networks to log in here. And by posting here, your question and data is stored on our servers and not automatically shared with a whole social media network.

We'll also start using the forum for small bits of information, announcements and more again.

When I attempt to open Google Chrome, itunes, Firefox, and even Uninstall Spybot S&D a window opens saying "scanning _____" and then nothing found. If I try to open above mentioned programs the process starts again. ther are no option buttons or anything on the window only a close but and the "X" in the upper right hand corner.

any help?
thanks

Hello,

To disable the single files scan please open the registry editor by:
(a)
press windowskey + r then enter "regedit" (without quotation marks)
or
(b)
click on "start" , then "run" and enter "regedit" (without quotation marks)

(a+b)
and then browse to the following path.

Please delete the following registry keys:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\sdfiles
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\sdfiles

For more information, please have a look at this thread in our forum.

Best regards
Sandra
