I searched for this problem an found a solution that did not work for me. How can I schedule a scan as administrator? I have a PC running Windows 7 and use Chrome as my default browser.

Hello,
Please open Spybot with a right click and choose "run as administrator/take ownership" (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/42.html).

What I want to do is run as administrator on a scheduled scan that runs at night when I am not at the computer. Is there a way to do that?

Hello,
Yes, you just open Spybot-S&D as admin and then go to the scheduler.
Please run Spybot-S&D in "Advanced Mode" and go to "Settings" --> "Scheduler". Hit the "Edit" button at the top of the "Scheduler" section in Spybot-S&D. Then hit "OK". Now you are asked to enter the password (your windows account password).
Please consider the following link (http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/tasksched_topnode.mspx) in order to see how to use the Scheduler.

I did what you suggested, but now I get an error message that says:
This action may not be performed completely since you are not an administrator. If you want this performed for all users, please run this application elevated as an administrator.
When I click OK, the program takes much longer to load than it used to take and when it does come up, it will not respond to the search for updates button.
When I start the program as administrator, I get a warning:
Please select some update files from the list.
When I click OK, the screen flashes a window too quickly to see what it says. It still will not respond to the search for updates button.
How can I fix this?
I had the same problem with running as administrator. Trouble is when I wright clik either on icon on desktop in start I can not see run as administrator.
When I am going to control panel I can see that I am already administrator?
Any advice please:sad:

Hello,
Probably you have only right clicked the Spybot folder and not the Spybot file itself below it:

I tried what you suggested, but I still get the same results. I can't update Spy-bot and I get the same error messages. What now?

Hello,
Please rightclick the Spybot icon, select Properties, Compatibility Tab, and under Privilege level, checkmark "Run this program as an administrator", then click Apply, and OK.

I was just coming here to post this very same problem. At first i thought it was just me, glad to see Im not the only one. Thanks for the solution.
If I have tried all of the above suggestions, and it's still telling me I need to become an administrator...what can I do? Would it help to restart my laptop? I have even gone into user accounts to make sure I'm listed as an everyday user, and as the administrator. I'm the only person who uses my laptop. I'm not sure how to proceed here...
The problem ended up fixing itself. Thanks anyway.
