I've tried incessantly to search the forum in an effort to find the browser hijack problem I'm having w/Spybot 2.0.6.0 and no matter what I try or do, I just keep getting the following when I try to perform a search:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /arrayx/www/forums/includes/functions.php on line 1838

I assure you I've waited more than 30 seconds between attempts ... Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place but as you can see, there's not much I can do to help myself with this problem.

THANKS!

Thanks Tashi ...

I'm running the 2.0.6.0 beta, I've run the scan a bunch of times and implemented the browser security to Firefox, but I continue to get the periodic random pop-ups opening in new tabs ... Here are a few of the urls:

easydegree.info (closed tab before I copied the whole url)

On exit, asks Leave page? When click Leave Page new pop-up:

Please, please tell me what to do to get rid of this thing! Thanks a bunch ...

P.S. ~ Haven't tested this issue on IE yet, as I primarily use Firefox 99% of the time

Hello BabyGorda,

Thank you for clarifying I wasn't sure what you meant by "the browser hijack problem I'm having w/Spybot 2.0.6.0" ;)

Please give a few more details.

1) Operating system
2) Security software installed
3) When the problem started and how the computer is running in general, aside from the hijack are there other symptoms of infection.

Best regards,

1) Operating System:
Windows XP Media Center Edition SP3

2) Security (monitoring?) software installed:
None, just SpyBot (Shame on me, I know)

3) When the problem started and how the computer is running in general, aside from the hijack are there other symptoms of infection:

Computer is running well overall, with the exception of this hijack problem. Problem started a month or 2 ago, at which time I did a full scan & removal w/another program (MB), problem persisted and I installed SpyBot ... Have done several full scans (w/both programs) and immunized my browsers, but these wretched things still keep popping up. I run scans w/both programs regularly and they continue to find a few infections, but problem persists even after removal.

Sorry if I didn't provide enough info before, please let me know if there's anymore info you need or I've left out ... THANKS!

Unfortunately, no ... I don't have any anti-virus programs installed. Open to suggestions if you can recommend a good (& free!) one :)

Hello BabyGorda,

Someone will need to take a look at the system in order to offer advice. :) Might be a good idea to use the computer on-line as little as possible at this time.

Please start a topic in the Malware Removal Forum: http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22 and a volunteer analyst will advise when available.

First see that forum's FAQ which also includes instructions in post #2 on how to provide DDS logs, which are the logs used in the preliminary analysis.

Please keep in mind that it is the weekend. http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=1137
