View Full Version : Hotmail Account Spamming Contacts

Tamath

Hello all,

After a long time of managing to avoid any nasties getting on my computer, my hotmail account is now spamming all my contacts with nonsensical emails with a link included. Now, I don't know if it's just someone simply having hacked my hotmail account or if something on my machine is the cause (or even if it's that possible, hence I am turning to the experts :D). I have Spybot, and it did find something last run, but the problem continued. I'm running it again anyway and have also changed my hotmail password, but I figure it can't hurt to post my log and make sure there's nothing unsavoury on my computer either. Help is of course greatly appreciated. I ran HijackThis myself, but I don't want to accidentally brick my computer, so here is my DDS log. Also, I had two P2P programs on my computer (uTorrent and SoulSeekQT) but have uninstalledd them before running DDS, to be on the safe side.

Logs look ok. Password change you made should take care of the problem :)

Thanks for replying, Blade81.

Well I'm glad to hear my logs look clean, but just today I reach my inbox to see I've been spamming my contacts again! Now I'm very much perplexed as to how my hotmail is still being accessed. Well, once more with the full gamut of scans, I suppose. (And another password change, although the previous one was seemingly ineffectual...)

Any ideas or theories behind this are most welcome, my friends are probably getting quite sick of getting junk from me.

Oh, false alarm. I just received VERY belated failed delivery notifications from when I did send a wave of spam. My sent items contain nothing new. Phew! But thanks for looking anyway, I appreciate the peace of mind :)

Good to hear it was nothing but a false alarm :D:
