The reason this is taking so long is because you started multiple posts. I posted to the other one and we have finally got it archived and may be able to look at this one. This is what I would like you to do if you want help.

1) Look back at your first HJT log which was posted correctly by copy/pasting it. Post all logs in that manner, do not quote or code and do not post anything I do not request.

2) Supply as much information about your problem as you think will help.

3) Post a new HJT log as requested above and I will review it and respond as soon as possible after that.

4) If you have resolved your problems elsewhere, post to let us know so we can close this topic.

Thanks

I'll take a moment to give you some information since you gave me none:

C:\WINNT\system32\smsc.exe <<< is probably this: http://www.sophos.com/security/analyses/w32sdbotph.html
Turns off anti-virus applications
Allows others to access the computer
Steals information
Reduces system security
Installs itself in the Registry

C:\WINNT\cHI\command.exe <<< is probably this: Command Service (cmdService) X command.exe Adware

You also have Look2me and other junk. You would be wise to stay offline except when troubleshooting because this junk will attract more.

Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix:

Please download Look2Me-Destroyer.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=7) to your desktop.
Close all windows before continuing.
Double-click Look2Me-Destroyer.exe to run it.
Put a check next to Run this program as a task.
You will receive a message saying Look2Me-Destroyer will close and re-open in approximately 10 seconds. Click OK
When Look2Me-Destroyer re-opens, click the Scan for L2M button, your desktop icons will disappear, this is normal.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove L2M button.
You will receive a Done Scanning message, click OK.
When completed, you will receive this message: Done removing infected files! Look2Me-Destroyer will now shutdown your computer, click OK.
Your computer will then shutdown.
Turn your computer back on.
Please post the contents of C:\Look2Me-Destroyer.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
If Look2Me-Destroyer does not reopen automatically, reboot and try again.

If you receive a message from your firewall about this program accessing the internet please allow it.

If you receive a runtime error '339' please download MSWINSCK.OCX from the link below and place it in your C:\Windows\System32 Directory.
http://www.ascentive.com/support/new/images/lib/MSWINSCK.OCX

More info:

If for some reason Look2Me-Destroyer doesn't reopen check that task scheduler is running.
If it isnt you can use sc.exe to start it

start>run sc start schedule press enter.

Post the two logs bolded above and I will respond as soon as possible after that with instructions.

thanks

prady

Understand that you have a severely infected computer on your hands. Look2me needs to be removed first but the junk causing the problems you describe is still there and we will go after it next. If you keep the computer offline as suggested, the hackers will not have access to it.

Thanks

Thanks for the feedback, as you can see, Look2me was still present and it appears to have beem successfully removed by Atribune's tool.

Here is what we are deling with so you will know what it is doing to your security:
O23 - Service: Windows DLL System - Unknown owner - C:\WINNT\system32\smsc.exe
http://www.sophos.com/security/analyses/w32sdbotph.html

O23 - Service: Command Service (cmdService) - Unknown owner - C:\WINNT\cHI\command.exe
This is probably: http://www.castlecops.com/o23list-915.html

This is a new tool and it is supposed to fix the bad W32/Sdbot worm, follow the directions:
Download SDFix (http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.zip) and save it to your desktop.

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
Choose your usual account.

In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the script.
It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with a new HijackThis log

Thanks

Andy has suggested we move ahead manually with this one, let's try this:

1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) Disable the Service
Click Start > Run and type services.msc
Scroll down to Command Service and right click on it.
Click Properties and under Service Status click Stop, then under Startup Type change it to Disabled.

Disable the Service
Click Start > Run and type services.msc
Scroll down to Windows DLL System and right click on it.
Click Properties and under Service Status click Stop, then under Startup Type change it to Disabled.

4) You can enter both of these at once if HJT will allow it.
Delete the Service
Open HijackThis and click Config -> Misc Tools -> Delete an NT service.
In the Delete window, type (cmdService) and press OK.
OK any prompts, close HijackThis, and restart your computer.

Delete the Service
Open HijackThis and click Config -> Misc Tools -> Delete an NT service.
In the Delete window, type Windows DLL System and press OK.
OK any prompts, close HijackThis, and restart your computer.

5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\windows\system32\blank.htm
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\windows\system32\blank.htm
O23 - Service: Command Service (cmdService) - Unknown owner - C:\WINNT\cHI\command.exe
O23 - Service: Windows DLL System - Unknown owner - C:\WINNT\system32\smsc.exe

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

6) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

(These files and folder may be gone, just do not miss them)

C:\WINNT\cHI\ <<< folder

C:\WINNT\system32\smsc.exe <<< file

7) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log and any comments you think will help.

Thanks

Thanks for returning your information. I am sorry:( but these infections are rarely as easy to get off the computer than they were to get on. The best is not to get the junk on the computer in the first place.

O23 - Service: Windows Binary Reader - Unknown owner - C:\WINNT\system32\smsc.exe
This item is indeed a nasty and it seems to have the ability to rename the service.
You also have new junk...it is so important that you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting. You are going to get infected if you don't. Please proceed like this.

1) Make sure you leave all files and folders unhidden until we finish.

2) First we must disable the running service so we can delete the file.
Click Start > Run and type services.msc
Scroll down to Windows Binary Reader and right click on it.
Click Properties and under Service Status click Stop, then under Startup Type change it to Disabled.

3) In this link: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial42.html#delreb we will use this tool:
How to use the Delete on Reboot tool

At times you may find a file that stubbornly refuses to be deleted by conventional means. HijackThis introduced, in version 1.98.2, a method to have Windows delete the file as it boots up, before the file has the chance to load. To do this follow these steps:

Start Hijackthis
Click on the Config button
Click on the Misc Tools button
Click on the button labeled Delete a file on reboot...
A new window will open asking you to select the file that you would like to delete on reboot. Navigate to the file >>> C:\WINNT\system32\smsc.exe and click on it once, and then click on the Open button.
You will now be asked if you would like to reboot your computer to delete the file. Click on the Yes button if you would like to reboot now, otherwise click on the No button to reboot later.

4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [newname] C:\\nwnmff_11.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [keyboard] C:\\kybrdff_11a.exe
O23 - Service: Windows Binary Reader - Unknown owner - C:\WINNT\system32\smsc.exe <<< should be gone

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

(the first two may be gone, check to be sure)
C:\\nwnmff_11.exe <<< delete the file
C:\\kybrdff_11a.exe <<< delete the file

(this is the file you deleted on reboot, just check to be sure it is gone)
C:\WINNT\system32\smsc.exe <<< delete the file

(these two file MUST go. If you can not delete them, write down the names and start the computer in SAFE MODE and delete them there)
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial61.html

c:\dwin.exe <<< delete the file

c:\MTE3NDI6ODoxNg.exe <<< delete the file

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Make sure the computer is restarted so the changes can go into effect, then post a new HJT log, please add any comments you think will help.

Thanks

Hi pskelley,

I accidently deleted the file NtDirect from C drive. Bcoz of which my system wouldnt boot up. It stops in the screen where there is a selection of which OS it needs to boot up in.
Looks Like i would need to reinstall the OS once again..
Kindly let me know if this is the only solution to this.
Thanks once again for all the help
Regards
Prady

That's a tough one, off the time of my head I would say to use your boot disk, if you don't have one you should. Here is information for the future:
http://www.computerhope.com/boot.htm

Look at this information, if you can get it to boot then if you deleted the item it would be in your Recycle Bin, right click on it and restore it.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307852/

A couple of troubleshooting links:
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2006-16,GGLG:en&q=computer+won%27t+boot
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2006-16,GGLG:en&q=troubleshoot+boot+up+problems

Hope this helps

But i do get a windows popup saying some critical updates required and need to download some registry cleaner..
I would not click on that if I was you. To check to see if you need any Microsoft Criticals, do this:
Internet Explorer > Tools > Windows Update.

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 9:18:33 PM, on 8/24/2006

We have a little more work to do, this item: C:\WINNT\system32\mmc.exe my scanner says it is: http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/trojlowzonei.html but a Google of mmc.exe returns this information:
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2006-16,GGLG:en&q=mmc%2Eexe

Use one or more of these free online scanners to find out if it is bad:
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus
http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html

If it is bad, let me know the results, then use this from earlier: How to use the Delete on Reboot tool to delete it. Then do this:

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R3 - URLSearchHook: DeskbarBHO - {A8B28872-3324-4CD2-8AA3-7D555C872D96} - C:\Program Files\Deskbar\deskbar.dll

(next two are resource wasters and optionsal. If you don't use Alexa remove them)
O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINNT\web\related.htm G

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Run ATF Cleaner per earlier instructions, here is a tutorial if needed:

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log and your comments.

Thanks

FYI this is outdated: C:\Program Files\ewido anti-malware\ewidoctrl.exe Version 4.0 is released. I would uninstall the old program and if you install the new one is up to you and optional.

We have a little more work to do, this item: C:\WINNT\system32\mmc.exe my scanner says it is: http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/anal...jlowzonei.html but a Google of mmc.exe returns this information:
http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...en&q=mmc%2Eexe

Use one or more of these free online scanners to find out if it is bad:
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus
http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html

If it is bad, let me know the results, then use this from earlier: How to use the Delete on Reboot tool to delete it.

http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus gave it a clean
Scanned file: mmc.exe

I am just not sure what is causing that, you need to update to IE 6.0 and this looks like an attempt?
O4 - Startup: Resume Windows Update Installation.lnk = C:\WINNT\Windows Update Setup Files\ie6setup.exe

Did you click on IE > Tools and Windows Updates? Let it update, if it continues and it is a notice from Microsoft, as them how to stop it:

http://support.microsoft.com/ All support for everything before Windows XP SP 2 is scheduled to end around October 6, 2006.

Your HJT log looks clean of malware. Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
