Threat Details:

Categories:
malware

Description:
Fraud.BasicScan does not tell what it is supposed to be. It installs without any license or privacy agreement. It also changes the search scope of the Internet Explorer to its own site and installs a Firefox addon and a system service in background. License information can be obtained from the BasicScan site but not the installer. Terms require the user to be at least 18 years which is not checked by the installer at all. Search results are very poor. No benefit to the user at all. There is no legit reason for BasicScan to install a system service to provide its service as well.
