I am using Win XP Pro SP3. and posting this for anyone who has a similar problem.

Updated to SBS&D. 1.6.2.46 and when I started the program, received an error message that SBS&D. cannot find framedyn.dll. However, it continued to load and worked, but the error message persisted each time I started SBS&D.

After searching the web, there were a number of very old posts relating to this issue and some suggestions were relevant, so I checked out my Windows installation.

The file exists in C:\WINNT\System32\wbem with the date of 2008-04-16 6:41 AM, which is the SP3 installation because a backup copy exists in the Service Pack installation folder. Checked the path which is C:\WINNT\system32;C:\WINNT;C:\WINNT\System32\wbem. So I copied the file to C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy and everything worked.

If this is incorrect, where should this file be located? . . . and should the developers made aware of this problem? I spent several hours to resolve this issue.

Please see this post:

And then bitman's answer:

It would probably be better to try the instructions here, under the Verify System Variables section:

Many thanks. Bitman's instructions of Verify System Variables to overwrite the registry environment variable by adding something to the path worked! I deleted the framedyn.dll from the Program Files\SBS&D folder, it reads the system path correctly, and works without the error message.
