I am getting the same error as I see others have reported over the past year:

Activation context generation failed for "c:\program files (x86)\spybot - search & destroy\DelZip179.dll".Error in manifest or policy file "c:\program files (x86)\spybot - search & destroy\DelZip179.dll" on line 8. The value "*" of attribute "language" in element "assemblyIdentity" is invalid

I see in a thread from like 5 months ago that a user was asked to email Spybot to get a new delzip179 file. Is this still the case or has there been a fix put out that I can't find? I'd like to think that since this error has been around for as long as it's been that users aren't still left hanging unless they email someone! Here is the thread I am referencing:

http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=60518&highlight=delzip179.dll

Can someone please guide me in the right direction to get rid of this error? And why I get this error daily even though I'm not running the program?

Many thanks!

-Jim

Wanted to add, I uninstalled the program last night, deleted the folders, ran cleaning utilities and also cleaned the registry. Downloaded Spybot once again and installed all fresh. Problem still pops up in event viewer.

With all due respect, how can the file be corrupted when I have uninstalled and now re-installed, by downloading the program from a few different locations on this site? The file goes directly into the Spybot directory and is the only location on my machine. So when uninstalled, and the folder deleted, it's gone. Then downloading from this site should be the same as contacting you guys for the file - no? Just seems odd to make people search for fixes and ultimately having them email for a file - when downloading the program on a fresh machine should be sufficient.

I did send an email and will follow the advice of the experts, but just for my own head, I don't see the difference between a new file and downloading the program.

Thanks!

Jim

Nevermind... Lack of an answer here, and no reply via email, so I just rid myself of Spybot. For others looking around, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a decent alternative - along with SuperAntiSpyware free, Slim Cleaner & CCleaner.

There are many alternatives to one that spits out errors for months and the need to dig for answers and then email for a single file, instead of the files just being available as part of the program download.

Oh, and pay for Tune Up utilities as well! Awesome program!

Run all of those and there is no need for S&D.
