Thanks for any help on this !

The Background:
- On an old PC with XP home running Service Pack 1
- And running an old version of Internet Explorer... version 6 I think...
- Windows Security Essentials would not install (needed SP 2 or SP3 I think)

- System would not do updates via clicking...
Start > All Programs > Windows Update

- So then downloade & ran S&D and Malware Bytes
- Then manually downloaded SP2 & SP3 & IE8 from Microsoft site
- Installed SP 2 & 3 & IE8

- Then Start>All Programs > Windows Update seemed to work
- Attempted to do 'updates' that way to get all the patches
- BUT... S&D popped up and said there was a problem with systems.exe !!

- I'm not sure why it waited until after all the updates to do that...
- and I feel sure all the updates came from the Microsoft Site
- Maybe S&D needed a newer XP Home Service Pack to work correctly and detect the bad systems.exe ???

- OR maybe this isn't a problem ???

The Questions:
1 - How can I be sure systems.exe is bad?
2 - How do I fix it?

Thanks for any help!

PS - No Windows XP Home CD is available for this old PC
