I am a glutton for technology punishment, so I am helping save a friend's computer.
She installed a game called "Mirror's Edge", after which her profile was erased. When she logged back in to her computer, it looks like a new profile... all custom settings gone. Anytime she tries to run anything, it says "windows cannot access the specified device path or file."
I had her boot into safe mode and install malwarebytes, but whenever she tries to kick off a scan it crashes. She has not been able to uninstall the Mirror's Edge game. The seller for the game on Amazon is listed as "Unknown," so don't know if the disk was infected.
There is another profile on the computer that is untouched, but it does not have administrator privileges.
Not sure what to do at this point. A little help?
