i ran Spybot Search&Destroy last night...it brought up Babylon Toolbar saying it was an issue. I tried to use the program to clean it.

it was not able to so i ran on start-up...still no luck

Babylon Toolbar is not listed anywhere on my hard-drive...its not in programs...i did a hard-drive search first for Babylon then for just BAB...both time it said there was nothing in my hard-drive with those letters

its not listed in start-menu, programs, nor the removal for programs & features in Vista Home Basic Service Pack 2...its also not listed as a Firefox add-on

any suggestions? thank you:confused:

Could you please do this? :)

Open SpyBot.
Check for problems.
When the scan completes, right click on the results list, select "Copy results to clipboard".
Paste (Ctrl+V) those results here.

Please go here and download the file:
http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=51
Unzip it to the main application folder (usually C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\) and replace the old file with the new one.

The number in curly brackets shows that it most likely is babylon:
http://www.systemlookup.com/CLSID/71915-BabylonToolbarTlbr_dll.html
It's listed as open for debate.

Since you can't find any more of Babylon anywhere on your computer, perhaps the registry key Spybot found was a leftover of a past install.

You could try a scan in safe mode and see if it's removed then:
Reboot your computer into SafeMode by doing the following:

Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, begin tapping F8.
Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear.
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Open Spybot-S&D while still in safe mode.

Rightclick Spybot and select Run as administrator.
Close all browsers, check for problems and fix everything found in red
Close Spybot-S&D
Reboot back into Windows

Go to Control Panel, click Programs (software).

Uninstall "Browser Manager" + "Bprotector" + "Object Installer" + "Babylon Toolbar on IE"

• Navigate to the key HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlset\services, locate the Browser Manager subkey here and hit the delete key
• Go to HKLM\Software\ and delete Browser Manager from here
• Remove the dll from HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\Appinit_Dlls

this should solve it :-)

Hello Babylon Support,

Check in Control Panel that you have removed Babylon toolbar!

This is the support forum for Spybot-S&D. As you have already made three posts on how to remove your own product (the Babylon toolbar), I will list your posts here so that users may readily find them.

Hello fdgetid,

Topics in the forum and in search engines show that the toolbar may be difficult to remove.

See: http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?p=432232#post432232

Thank you for reporting this issue,
these appear to be generic toolbar parts that also get installed when the Zonealarm toolbar get installed.
This will be fixed with the next detection update scheduled for Wednesday 2012-10-17.

Has ZoneAlarm been installed on your PC and is Spybot-S&D up to date?

Please open Spybot Search & Destroy > Help > About and let us know the version and the date of last definitions. :)

Also, please list:

The operating system.
Other security programs installed.
Any issues with the computer's performance.

Best regards. :)

Hello fdgetit,

For someone to take a look at the system please start a topic in the Malware Removal Forum (http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22) and a volunteer analyst will advise when available.

First see that forum's FAQ which also includes instructions in post #2 on how to provide DDS/aswMBR logs, which are the logs used in the preliminary analysis.
