been working all day on trying to fix this. initally i got trouble with symantec antivirus 2005, which wanted me to go online to get some updates. IE bugged during that installation, and when i restarted i was told when i tried to open taskmanager, regedit or cmd that the administrator has disabled those programs from me. as i am the only admin on the pc, its pretty rhetoric that i got some bad stuff infecting my new pc.
naturally i havent had the time yet to update windows properly, which is probably the cause of this, but that is fixed now. the problem however is that i've been spending the entire day trying to find the remaining malware hiding out. the first things that always came out against me was CiaDoor/CiaDoor13 depending on the tools i've used. i've been reading a bit on the net about other people having trouble with the same thing, but there seems to be alot of minor differences each time. i can't find a removal tool for what i got, as i am still not 100% sure of what is the main problem.
the basic summary of what i've done:
1. problem with symantec AV, tried uninstalling, partially uninstalled, but no chance at making it install again. have gotten avg as a proxy for now, but it doesnt find anything.
2. gone through a few online scans, the panda found a virus named BifRose, which it supposedly got rid of.
3. current spybotscans tells me i got Win32.trojan.downloader, and this one seems to be the most tenacious one, as i've seen it a few times now. i got my suspicions that this might be the big bad wolf, but i can't tell. i believe i might have fixed a fake wget registry thing, as it popped up during earlier scans, but i found a patch on the net that supposedly should have fixed it.
4. regedit and taskmanager works now, although the cpu usage is not moving at all, unless i manually refresh it by doubleclicking the graphs.
the problems here is that i've done alot of experimenting on my own, and i can't recall every small thing i've done. but i believe that i have as of yet only gotten rid of the symptoms and not the cause of the problem.
