Description:
Win32.PrivCnt.a is a NSIS installer package which misleads the user to get a software, audio or video file for free by utilizing loaded words like "keygen, serial, iso". It claims to be a free but ad-supported VPN client, which uses secure VPN tunelling. All internet queries are carried out via an intermediary server which is run by a third party that generates revenue for the site. Once a Win32.PrivCnt.a package is run it installs a client on the system and starts on every reboot via an autorun entry.
Supposed Functionality:
The company says: "Using this free VPN will secure your online communication. It creates a secure tunnel through which your internet traffic flows, hidden from anyone else. It's quick, easy and completely secure." Third party websites claim that PrivitizeVPN is a tool offering a direct service for "The Pirate Bay" like iPredator which is not correct.
Privacy Statement:
This VPN client has no EULA. Only a terms and conditions link on the first installer page. This links to 'http://privitize.com/privacy' which is verifiable unreachable since 2012-10-17 (The requested URL was not found on the server).
