View Full Version : Shell integration causing Explorer crash
Lately I've been having trouble with Windows Explorer
Every time I would right-click on any installed drive(folders were fine), Explorer would crash
In trying to figure out the problem I remembered that Spybot was the last program I installed that integrates into the shell, so I opted to disable it and the crashing problem has been resolved

Hello,
It would help us very much if you could try this little tool (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/85556593/Trac2310ListExplorerExtensions.exe) which would give us more information about any compatibility issues.
The app will list all other installed context menu extensions (that we haven't whitelisted as compatible yet), and this might help tracking down the issue.
Thank you very much. :)
Best regards

Can't, upgraded back to 1.6.2
you mean downgraded to 1.6.2.
the explorer crashes seemed to be fixed in spybot 2.1. try upgrading to version 2.1 or higher.
AND if you are using Windows 7, install the following Win7 patches:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2515325 (fixes a crash in the explorer.exe file)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2798162 (update to improve messaging in dialog boxes when running EXE files)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2775511 (a post-SP1 hotfix rollup, almost an update rollup since I don't think MS is making a Win7 SP2 anytime soon)
No, upgraded. It does what I want without the annoyances 2 has given me
Using Spybot 2.1.21.0. Experiencing crashes of the explorer shell. Have installed the Windows patches and still having problems. Attached results from the shell extension tool. Would appreciate any help.
