Hi, sorry but I am an amateur.
Every time I scan the sytem I get three cat5 results and thre or four cat1 results. After fixing they are still present when I do the next scan. Help and advice will be appreciated.

Hi nyquist:

1. Fix with AdwCleaner
AdwCleaner
Close all open programs and internet browsers.
Right click on adwcleaner.exe and select " Run as administrator " to run it.
Click on Delete.
Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
Please post the content of that logfile with your next reply.
You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

2. OTL
Please download OTL (http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTL.exe) ... by Old Timer . Save it to your Desktop.
Right click on OTL.exe select "Run As Administrator" to run it. If prompted by UAC, please allow it.
Under Output, ensure that Minimal Output is selected.
Click the Scan All Users checkbox.
Leave the remaining selections to the default settings.
Click on Run Scan at the top left hand corner.
When done, two Notepad files will open.
OTL.txt <-- Will be opened, maximized
Extras.txt <-- Will be minimized on task bar.
Please post the contents of both OTL.txt and Extras.txt files in your next reply.

3. Please tell me more detail about your computer problem?
a. What is the symptoms that make you think you are infected? Any re-direction, strange sound, email hacked, pop-up?
b. Since when this incident happen?

Thanks,
torreattack

Thank you for your interest and advice.
Not having received a reply last week I formated all hard disks and reinstalled every thing. SpyBots first scan produced the same results as before and i now wonder if they are false positives.

I am attaching the scan log for you

the computer was ok and is ok now.

No popups no problems, just these alerts that always returned

I have always found spybot to be accurate in its detections

Hi nyquist :

I am very sorry to hear that you had formated all hard disks and reinstalled every thing.

According to your first logs, you were used FLV Runner Toolbar.

For your information, FLV Runner Toolbar is a Conduit "Community Toolbar" . It modifies the default IE URL search hook. Conduit toolbars are reputed to have a certain trackware functionality.

I will recommend you to stay away from it.

Btw, if you think your problem might be a false positive, you might post here, to help and improve Spybot.

I am attaching the scan log for you
I do not see any new log. Do you still need help?

Sorry,

Hi nyquist,

I do not see anything bad in your log.

Registry changes mean that there are changes to registry, it just let you know about it. For example, when you open a file, it change the recent open file list and write the name of the file to the registry. Spybot just let you alert about it.

You may always deleted the cookie, each time you browser internet, some website will store a cookie in your computer to record user information or activity. However, some company use it to trace user. I recommend you to delete them. If you dislike cookie, you may change your browser setting to reject them.

Any other problem or question before I close this thread?

Hi Torreattack,
Thank you you can close the thread. I really appreciate the time and trouble you have taken to help me. I thought the registry change was being made by malware and kept coming back, hence my nervousness - I did say I was an amateur!

Many thanks anyquist
