Microsoft has encountered a problem

I am getting this message when I try to go to certain web sites but not all as I am on here. Has something to do with spybot. I installed new software for a new digital camera and some spybot popups came up. I couldn't read them not all of it was there. I think I later saw one about a browser change. How do I allow changes when I want them? And how can I fix the problem at hand. I have W98. Any help would make me want to kiss you hahahaha thanks :blush:

It sounds like the messages that you are referring to may be coming from TeaTimer.

During the installation process did you check the following item on the "Select Additional Tasks" installation screen?
Use system setting protection (TeaTimer).
Or after the installation of Spybot did you go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Resident and check the following item?
Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) Active.

If so you activated TeaTimer.

There is currently a bug in TeaTimer 1.4. Portions of TeaTimer's popup dialog overlay the "Allow change" and "Deny change" buttons. On my system the very top edges of the "Allow change" button (on the left) and "Deny change" button (on the right) are showing and I am still able to select the options. I also can check "Remember this decision" since it is visible. If no portion of the "Allow change" and "Deny change" buttons are showing, you can answer TeaTimer's popup dialog (English language version) by pressing "A" on your keyboard for "Allow change" or "D" for "Deny change". Note: If you close the dialog without answering "Allow change" or "Deny change" the registry change is denied.

If you can't deal with the problem that way until it is fixed, you can:
Apply one of the workarounds found in the following pinned (Sticky) thread that fixes the pop-up dialog so the buttons are visible:

Disable TeaTimer as follows:
Go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Resident.

sry it took me so long to get back but life happened......i disabled teatimer added the patch and I can now see the buttons but that still doesn't fix the problem of the "microsoft has encountered a problem" message that i get because of teatimer buttons not showing. I have downloaded Firefox and am useing that (don't really care for it) but would like to be able to use Internet Explorer to. can you help or am I "sol" thanks

Can you possibly provide some more information about what the content of the "microsoft has encountered a problem" message that you are getting and what you are doing when you receive the message?

Ok, I think I did all of that. I reinstalled and accepted the changes. I was hoping that would fix it but it didn't.

I just tried to load Internet Explorer and this is what I get:

Microsoft IE has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Then it asks me if I want to send a report or not. I have done both (send and not send) and restarted lots of times. thanks
