I had an instance of w32/Rbot forcing CThelper onto my system, although there might have been others I don't know about.
I have scanned and cleaned using NOD32, Trend Micro Housecall, Panda Tech 2nd Op, and RunAlyzer.
I have manually removed all detected or observed Reg entries that were suspicious in nature or left overs from other software.
The system now scans clean but....
SB glitches and creeps on scans, first slowing at [current] def 499 Baciami, then remaining very slow.
I have a companion machine that was not infected and SB scans it without incident, skipping right by Baciami.
I have uninstalled, removed directories and reg entries, then reinstalled SB with the same results.
I have copied the entire folder from my other machine to the previously infected machine and still gotten the same reults, very slow scans.
When I tried to run SB in safe mode it said the User Aborted the Scan, then continued.
It appears to have multiple instances of tcpip starting in HKLM.
It also shows MSmsgr which I have previously completetly removed from the system, I should have no messenger services of any kind running.
I'd remove those reg entries but am not sure if it will kill something else.
I have seen others with a similiar issue but they seem to have fixed the problem upon removing the malware.
Maybe I missed something in the removal?
Maybe the SB exe or def list is somehow corrupted?
Maybe I am too enthusiastic?
