Yesterday I installed Spybot 2 (had 1.6.2).
The icon in the system tray mentions a.o. : AS protection: ON.

What is AS protection?

AS means Anti Spyware. Its the first letter of both words.
If AS-Protection is on, this means Spybots Services are running and you are protected.

Many thanks.

Is this a real time protection an how do I put this on (or out)?
And does it then interfere with AVG (which is my real time AV program)?

Actually its not a realtime-protection, its a background-scanner.
Therefore should not be incompatipilitys to other Software.

Thanks again.

But isn't a background-scanner always real time?

Thanks again.

But isn't a background-scanner always real time?

Background-scanner and Realtime- or Live-Protection are not the same in this case.

The background scanner is only the service, which of course is always activ, who allows Spybot to scan files.
The Live-Protection is based on this scanner, but does actually more, since the Live-Protection scans each starting applicaton, before it is launched.

Although more than a year late: thanks again!

I begin to understand.
