unexpected error in fixing problems (Cannot create file "C:\Windows\wininit.ini". Access denied)

^this pops up in an error window with an ok button.

after i scan and problems are identified. i click on fix problems when i click on that button the above message appears. then when i attempt to click the ok button, the window reappears. and i am unable to access spybot any longer...

i have ran AVG scans, CCleaner scans, defragmented, updated everything, recovered from last critical, updated again, shut down and restarted multiple times. geek squad ran a diagnostic i'm running around 90% so it's not dieing. but i would like to know why spybot is not working properly.

or more specificly, what should i do to make spybot remove these unwanted problems?

Hello,

This is a common error code seen in our software. Although it is a common Windows error code, it's not really an error so much as an administrative access issue. Spybot requires that you have administrative rights over the machine upon which you install them.

Right-click the Spybot - Search & Destroy entry in your start menu,
instead of just left-clicking to start it.
Then, choose Run as administrator from the context menu.
You will find a screenshot of this problem in our FAQ:
How can I get administrator rights? (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/42.htmlhttp://www.safer-networking.org/faq/how-can-i-get-administrator-rights-under-windows-vista-or-windows-7/)

Sandra,
I right clicked on the spy-bot icon in the start bar; I do not get the "Run as administrator" option.

Hello slapshot1031,

Did you try How can I get administrator rights under Windows Vista / Windows 7 / Windows 8? (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=55946) :)

Best regards.

Yeah, I was right clicking on the startup, not start. I am running it right now as admin to see if I can remove them.

I still get the same message, and Spy-Bot locks up.
