• Welcome Guest, to the Spybot Forums! It's 2025, and we just upgraded our forum software.

Today is Safer Internet Day, and with our new forum, you can finally use passkeys to login. That was about time!

Of course, you could ask if a forum is still useful, with so many social media networks out there where you might already have an account, and met a lot of users. You can now use your login from some of those networks to log in here. And by posting here, your question and data is stored on our servers and not automatically shared with a whole social media network.

We'll also start using the forum for small bits of information, announcements and more again.

Removing Adware?

Will spybot remove Adware? I would guess that there are a small number (< 100??) of Adware producers. If so, does spybot show a list of them. For example, I have one on my PC produced by Criteo.

I usually just peek at Spybot's ignore list to see if it detects a particular thing. To look at it in Spybot 2:
Open Spybot-S&D Start Center.
Checkmark Advanced User Mode.
Click Settings, and click Yes if you get a prompt from UAC.
Click the Ignore List tab, then click Add...,and then a window will open that you can scroll through to see what it detects or type in part of the name to narrow it down a little.
When you're done, just close the window and the settings window.

ADware

I have a question I down-loaded Mozilla and in the registry itself is a Zen-search engine installed, which is a malware and I want to get rid of it but its in the registry itself. I deleted Mozilla and when it did a clean sweep it showed up in the registry of Mozilla. How can I get clean version without the Zen ad-ware?
Even when I run the Spy-bot it never detects it but its in my search window after every reboot??? Thanks

You can try removing Zensearch from add/remove programs.
If you still have problems with it after that, you could ask for help in malware removal. Please read this first:

I don't think Zensearch is included with any mozilla products by default(unless I hadn't read about it yet),if you go to an official Mozilla download page.If you post in Malware Removal, the person helping you would help you out with that when you're all done, just mention it to them. :)
