View Full Version : Cannot uninstall Spybot 2
Hello,
I want to uninstall Spybot (version 2.0.1.2) from my windows7 x64 machine.
When i try to run the uninstall feature, just nothing happens.
When i try to uninstall from windows add\remove software, still nothing happens.
Tried both methods in safe mode, same result.
Tried running CCcleaner first, same result.
Tried terminating S&D processes and services before uninstalling, same result, just NOTHING happens.
Can anyone help me?

Hello,
are you looged in as normal User or as Adminsitartor?
You can also try to uninstall Spybot manually:
1. Stop Spybot and exit it
2. Try to remove Spybot from within Windows->Software->Uninstall Programs
If you are getting an question from your OS, please click OK or YES
3. Delete the following folders:
C:\Program Files\Spybot – Search & Destroy
C:\ProgramData\Spybot – Search & Destroy
4. Reboot your System.
Optionally you can also stop the Spybot-Services from within the Windows-Services-Control-Panel between Step 1 and Step 2.

As i said in the OP, i tried all the methods you mentioned, except plain deleting the program folders, which does not seems to be a clean way to uninstall it..

Since Spybot dont create any important Registry-Entrys or change System-Settings the procedure of deleting the mentioned folders is ok and this procedure is the official workaround for a manuall uninstall of Spybot, as listed into Spybot-Help
Important is, that you restart your Computer, after each step!
