View Full Version : Thunderbird Mail and Norton IS 2006
Hi-
Don't know if I have a malware problem or not, but ever since I installed Norton Internet Security 2006, I cannot download email to my Thunderbird Inbox....I get a Symantec error message referencing ccApp.exe and asking if I want to send an error report. Then it never downloads any messages.
I am only running the Windows firewall (norton's is off) with a linksys router and DSL.
My install of XP SP2 is only about 2months old.....just got a new hard drive.
I ran HiJackThis and will attach the logfile.
Any ideas? I am ready to chuck Norton altogether. Norton also goofs up my BeyondTV guide updater.

Welcome to the forum, I do not use Symantec/Norton so I really can't comment on the product. What I can do is this.
1) You are running HJT.exe from a .zip file in a Temporary Directory. This is unsafe as we will have no backups. That is why you received this message when you used HJT: http://russelltexas.com/malware/images/unsafefolder.gif
Please use the information in the following link to place HJT in a permanent, safe folder, I prefer C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe. If you need additional instructions use these: http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm
2) I see no malware in this log. While HJT can not see everything, I just do not believe hidden malware is the reason for your issues.
I get a Symantec error message referencing ccApp.exe

My suggestion would be to get with Symantec Technical Support and/or Tunderbird Support because it sounds like something to do with your email settings?
