I recently started to receive the following error when I boot up my laptop:

Regsvr32 error that points me to the goopdate_unsigned.dll file.

I recently installed Spybot on my laptop, and searched and found the file and ran a scan on the file. It reported as "clean".

Can someone tell me if this is a virus that has infected my computer? How do I fix this error message?

Thanks.

Unsigned files aren't necessarily malware, goopdate appears to be the Google updater.

If in doubt one can upload the file to https://www.virustotal.com/ and/or http://virusscan.jotti.org/en

Had you stopped the Google updater service before the issue occurred?

Best regards
