I was not sure where to post this but I have had 2 versions of spybot that may have been corrupt. I uninstalled one version. Computer has not been running right a couple of days now. I keep getting the error message that rtl150.bpl has been removed and needs to be reinstalled, I found out that spybot may have removed it. Now I cannot figure out how to fix this. The version of spybot I installed today ran about 3 hours, it seemed to be stuck and when it was done, the scan had not even been run.

Any ideas on where to start here to correct this problem?

Thanks

There is a rtl150.bpl file that is normally located within the Spybot - Search & Destroy 2 folder.
http://whatis.techtarget.com/fileformat/BPL-Borland-Delphi-4-packed-library
How did you find out that Spybot may have removed it,was it located in quarantine or anything?

I'm thinking along the lines that maybe the rtl150.bpl file from the Spybot folder was removed somehow, perhaps when you uninstalled one of the Spybots.Which version of Spybot did you remove, and which version did you keep? :)

Thanks for replying. The version of spybot I have now is 1.6.2. I am not sure what version I deleted. It seemed to be a newer version possibly. I read that my rtl file may have been removed by spybot from this site. I just need to know how to replace the driver. I have googled how to reinstall it and get routed to a site that wants money of course.

I hope you can help!

You're welcome. :)

I read that my rtl file may have been removed by spybot from this site.
I didn't find that when I was searching. If you have the link for it,could you post it here?

You could try uninstalling the Spybot you have installed now,and also removing the Spybot – Search & Destroy folder in Program Files,if it is there after you uninstall.Usually it's located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Spybot - Search & Destroy or C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy.
Then reinstall and see how it goes. This is the page on compatibility:
http://www.safer-networking.org/about/compatibility/
And this is the mirror selection for Spybot 1.6.2,if you prefer to reinstall that version:
http://www.safer-networking.org/mirrors16/
Or,you can get Spybot 2.1 from one of these mirrors,if you would prefer the latest one, instead:

Sorry, I do not remember where that was. I did what you suggested because I read on here to do that. It did seemed to help but my computer still says I am missing the rtl150.bpl drive and I need to reinstall it. I am not an expert by any means so I cannot figure out how to fix this.

That's ok,I had another wander around.Would the post you read happen to have been this one?
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?68225-Boot-Up-Error-Message-SDCleaner-exe-quot-rtl150-bpl-quot

I tried removing my own rtl150.bpl file from the Spybot folder, and from the sounds of it,I think I may have gotten a different error message than you did,as no drive or driver file was mentioned.Do you get the error message only when you start Spybot,or does it only happen when you start your computer,or anything like that? And could you post the exact error message?(The reason why is if I have that,I might be able to find something about it online.) :)
Also, which version of Windows do you have?

I can't really remember if the rtl150.bpl file was part of Spybot 1.6.2,but I believe it was.If Spybot 1.6.2 was the version you just reinstalled, could you go to the Spybot - Search & Destroy folder in Program Files and see if the rtl150.bpl file is in that folder?
If you are on Windows 7 or higher, your Spybot - Search & Destroy folder is likely to be located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Spybot - Search & Destroy.
If you have Windows Vista or below, then the Spybot - Search & Destroy folder is probably located in C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy.

I have windows 7 home premium version. I did not find the file in my spybot recovery section. I did not look in the computer files.

Which version of spybot should I be using?

I get the message. "program could not start because rtl.150.rpl is missing. I see it twice and I can click to get rid of it. I do not see it most other times. I did not look on my computer files but I will do that.

Thanks for your help.

Okay, that is almost exactly the same error message I got when I removed rtl150.bpl.So perhaps yours is missing as well.Though I thought it would be replaced when you reinstalled Spybot.

The latest version of Spybot is 2.1.That is technically the version most people should have,as long as their computer is compatible with it.But,Spybot 1.6.2 is also still being supported(last time I checked),so it is up to you which version you have, really.
The reason I've been asking about which version you have here,is because there are differences between the two,and it is easier to explain how to get to things,etc.etc. if I know which one you have. :)

To confirm that your rtl150.bpl file is missing for sure, you can look in the Spybot folder.
Click Start, type Run in the search programs and files box, then click Run.
If you have Spybot 1.6.2,copy and paste this into the Run box and click ok(If you get an error, just post back.):
C:\Program Files (x86)\Spybot - Search & Destroy
Look through and see if rtl150.bpl is in the folder.

I tried to look at the file and did not see in under spybot or spybot 2. I was using the 2.1 version of spybot and it would run a long, long time. It seemed to have issues.

Thanks

Okay, this thread recommends to send an email asking for the rtl150.bpl file and mentioning that thread:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?68225-Boot-Up-Error-Message-SDCleaner-exe-quot-rtl150-bpl-quot
The email address to use is mentioned there,as well. Why don't you try doing that?
The date on the last post is from June of this year,so it should still be ok to do so,though it may possibly take a few days or so before you get a reply. :)

Thanks anyway, but that is not a valid email address. I tried it.

You replace the (at) part with the @ sign.It is written that way in the post to avoid spam. :)

I did use the @ sign, but it did not work. I will start all over and try again. Is there anyway you can get the info on how to replace the file for me? I seem to be getting nowhere fast with all this.

Thanks

The only ways to replace the file are to reinstall Spybot, which you tried and it didn't work,or to get another rtl150.bpl file and place it in your Spybot folder.
Sorry about the email address, perhaps it is no longer in use.But I did find a contact form,so you could give that a try. :)

I am confused about something, what has that file got to do with spybot since it is a windows file?

I am not familiar with all the windows functions so this is baffling to me. In other words I am not schooled in all the ins and outs of a computer operating system.

Thanks for the help.

It isn`t a windows file. .bpl=Borland Package Library,from what I understand:
http://whatis.techtarget.com/fileformat/BPL-Borland-Delphi-4-packed-library

Well, there are other file associations of .bpl, but the borland one would be the one associated with Spybot,I`m pretty sure:
http://filext.com/file-extension/BPL

http://systemexplorer.net/file-database/file/rtl150-bpl

In other words I am not schooled in all the ins and outs of a computer operating system.
Me,either.Far from it,trust me. :)

Alright, you definitely need the rtl150.bpl file from what I`ve seen with Spybot 2.1 when I removed mine.
I`d assume you also need it with Spybot 1.6.2.
If you google rtl150.bpl the file is available, but that`s iffy, and you`d have to scan it for a virus.
Plus what if there are different versions? So,I can`t really recommend that.

About the only other choices you've got are to try reinstalling again,or to fill out the contact form, and ask for the file, one or the other. There aren't really any other options, and wishing it otherwise doesn't work, unfortunately.
If you do get the file, let me know if you need help placing it in your Spybot folder,I'll try to help. :)
