Computer not wanting to shutdown

Recently I bought a new computer and as I've installed new programs and downloaded things into it I noticed that sometimes when I try to shut it down, it doesnt want to. A friend had the same problem and claims it was some kind of bug. I'm not sure whats wrong but I'm a little suspicious. Heres the hijackthis log.

Hi Jenny and welcome to the forum, Before I look at the log, I can say this is rarely malware related. I would take this up with where you purchased the computer, if it is under warranty, as a new computer should be, and they can't fix it, have them replace it.

There are many good websites to help you troubleshoot Shutdown issues, and there are also a lots of reasons this can be happening. Here is the Google on the subject:

And I will still say again, if this computer is under warranty, then the HP technical support should fix these issues for you.

I would suggest you remove all of the HP redirects and Yahoo search junk in this log, but this may make your browser run a little better, it will not fix shutdown issues. You can do that like this:

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

You can still set any homepage you wish, but I would not use HJT to modify things until HP fixes the Shutdown problem.
