Good afternoon I have a computer that was given to me and when I follow the directions to right click on the icon in the start menu for spybot s&d but it asks for a password in order to run as administrator. I don't have a password. Spybot is unable to remove the win32downloader.gen is there another way to remove it?

So this doesn't work for you? - win32.downloader.gen (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?68931-win32-downloader-gen)

Which version of Spybot do you have and what is the operating system please.

Also, what kind of user access do you have on the computer :)

Best regards,

Good morning Tashi, I'm not sure what version of Spybot I am using I downloaded it from c-net in April 2013 and I'm using Windows 7. The current administrator on the computer is Pinnacol Assurance Company. The computer was given to me by the company. What does it mean to purge an item from your system using Spybot s&d?

If the previous owner of the computer is still the Administrator it implies the machine was not reformatted to remove all company details, please clarify. :)

Best regards.

I'm sorry I don't understand all I can tell you is that under "administrator" as the user name it also asks for a password and that is not available to me, do I need to obtain the password in order to run it as "administrator"?

Please let me know, thanks. :)

At this time I don't know the access privileges you have or if the company left sensitive information on the machine in question or set a password. Without knowing this I cannot direct you to our malware removal forum in case company information may be divulged in the logs. Please see: Personal computers (http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=25712&postcount=5)

A Standard user has limited privileges as to what settings and changes it can make to the computer. An Administrator account can make all changes and install software, normally an administrator would also have a Standard user account to log-on to the computer as needed. Running as a Standard user helps to protect the computer from malware.

Are you able to obtain Windows Updates? http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/thanks.aspx?ln=en&&thankspage=5
