Dear Technowizard
I have been unable to remove malware through Spybot and quite a few other programs. Please help.
I ran ERUNT. I also ran a combo fix before seeing your post asking not to. Sorry about that. I've zipped up and attached the file you requested. I think I've included all the other info you need. Haven't really got a clue what I'm doing. I've never been on a forum before so hopefully I'm in the right place. I'm located in Australia so I imagine communicating will be a little tricky due to time zones. Anyway, hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks
Gary

Hi Scribehard,

My name is OCD. I would be more than happy to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems you might have. Logs can take a while to research, so please be patient and know that I am working hard to get you a clean and functional system back in your hands. I'd be grateful if you would note the following:

I will be working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
Copy and Paste logs directly into the reply window. DO NOT attach the logs unless specifically instructed to do so.
IMPORTANT NOTE : Please do not delete, download or install anything unless instructed to do so.

DO NOT use any TOOLS such as Combofix or HijackThis fixes without supervision. Doing so could make your system inoperable and could require a full reinstall of your Operating System and losing all your programs and data.

Please stay with this topic until I let you know that your system appears to be "All Clear"

Important: All tools MUST be run from the Desktop.

Download Security Check by screen317 from here (http://screen317.spywareinfoforum.org/SecurityCheck.exe) or here (http://screen317.changelog.fr/SecurityCheck.exe).
Save it to your Desktop.

Windows XP : Double click on the icon to run it.
Windows Vista, Windows 7 & 8 : Right click and select "Run as Administrator"
A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

Download aswMBR.exe (http://public.avast.com/~gmerek/aswMBR.exe) and save it to your desktop.

Windows XP : Double click on the icon to run it.
Windows Vista, Windows 7 & 8 : Right click and select "Run as Administrator"

When asked if you want to download Avast's virus definitions please select Yes.
Click Scan
Upon completion of the scan, click Save log and save it to your desktop, and post that log in your next reply for review. Note - do NOT attempt any Fix yet.
You will also notice another file created on the desktop named MBR.dat. Right click that file and select Send To>Compressed (zipped) file. Attach that zipped file in your next reply as well.

=========================

You stated you already ran a scan with ComboFix. Please locate the log: C:\Combofix.txt and post it in your next reply.

In your next post please provide the following:

checkup.txt
aswMBR.txt
attach MBR.zip
ComboFix.txt
What symptoms are you experinecing?

Hi OCD

Thanks for taking the time to help me.

Symptoms are that the same viruses keep coming up on my spybot report. So in other words I don't seem to be able to get rid of them. What I think was the start of all this, was a firefox browser window popped up asking me to urgently update my flash player, by oracle I think it was, by clicking here. I knew it was a virus so when I tried to click the "Leave Page" button, it wouldn't let me. Couldn't close the browser window either. I restarted and began spybot etc. I tried several programs and managed to get my browser working properly again, but spybot can't get rid of the same malware that keeps showing up in the report. I posted spybots report in my original message.

I'm also having trouble with google, they don't seem to be able to recognize my email address/username. Don't know if that's related but that's what I'm working on at the moment.

I'm including:
- the Security Check report
- the aswMBR.txt which I posted originally, nothing has changed since then
- _attach_ MBR.zip again which I originally posted too
- I didn't save a ComboFix.txt report, very sorry.

Hi Scribehard,

As you can see by this entry in your Security Report scan your Flash Player is in need of updating. So that notification may not have been a virus, but don't update at this time if prompted until we dig a bit further.
Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.43 Flash Player out of Date!

=========================

Your log also doesn't indicate you have an Antivirus program installed. What Antivirus program are you using? Spybot is not an Antivirus program, it is used for spyware.

Here is a list of some free firewalls, please choose one (1) and install it now before we proceed.

Free Anti-Virus

Avast Free Antivirus (http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.html)
Avira Free Antivirus 2013 (http://download.cnet.com/Avira-Free-Antivirus-2013/3000-2239_4-10322935.html)
PC Tools AntiVirus Free (http://download.cnet.com/PC-Tools-AntiVirus-Free/3000-2239_4-10625067.html)
Ad-Aware Free Antivirus + (http://download.cnet.com/Ad-Aware-Free-Antivirus/3000-8022_4-10045910.html)

Some of the reports and scans I will request have similar names and it can get confusing keeping the names straight so it's important that you post the correct ones for review.

In your initial scan you provided the following reports:

Spybot
DDS.txt

I see you have/had P2P software uTorrent installed on your machine. We are not here to pass judgment on file-sharing as a concept. However, we will warn you that engaging in this activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine will always make you more susceptible to re-infections and possibly Identity Theft. It likely contributed to your current situation. This page (http://malwareremoval.com/p2pindex.php) will give you further information.

Please note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P file-sharing as a major conduit to spread their wares.

I would strongly recommend that you uninstall this now.

Click Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features. Locate and select the following that are present on the list and click the Remove button:

uTorrent
If you choose to not remove this programs please refrain from using it until we have finished cleaning your computer.

Windows XP : Double click on the icon to run it.
Windows Vista, Windows 7 & 8 : Right click and select "Run as Administrator"

Click on the Scan button.
AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a log file (AdwCleaner[R0].txt) will open in Notepad for review.
The contents of the log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, let me know about it.
Copy and paste the contents of that log file in your next reply.
A copy of all log files are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

In your next post please provide the following:

AdwCleaner[R0].txt
attach MBR.zip

Hi OCD
Thanks for helping me with this and sorry I sent the wrong file.
I think the flash player update request was too controlling to be normal.
I've been using utorrent for years without a problem so I won't uninstall it unless you really need me to. EZTV went down so I was going through a proxy server. Each time I went to a new EZTV proxy page, I got flooded with unwanted browser windows. I think that is where the problem came from.
I installed Avast, thanks for the tip. It automatically installed google chrome but I prefer firefox so I uninstalled chrome. Hope that's OK.
I ran AdwCleaner and report is below. I had run it before and I'm pretty sure that firefox file came up before and it cleaned it, but it doesn't seem like it was able to clean it because it looks like it's back.
OK I think that's it for now. Thanks again. Gary

Hi Scribehard,

Thanks for helping me with this and sorry I sent the wrong file.
It's not that big a issue. It just prevents us from getting you on your way a little sooner. :)

I've been using utorrent for years without a problem so I won't uninstall it unless you really need me to.
That's fine, just please refrain from using it until after we have finished.

Can you tell me more about what EZTV is?

I ran AdwCleaner and report is below. I had run it before and I'm pretty sure that firefox file came up before and it cleaned it, but it doesn't seem like it was able to clean it because it looks like it's back. What Firefox file are you referring to?

Hi OCD
EZTV supplies torrents of TV shows. They're very good and trusted. However, they went down for a while but we could access them through a proxy server, which is where the problems came from.
In the mean time I am having trouble with my google account. My password stopped working, changed it and got in but has stopped working again.
Also, links in my emails won't work. Message says Windows can't open, needs to find out what program is needed to open it. Works if I copy the link into my browser.

Below is the firefox file I was referring too, it was in the adwCleaner file that you asked me to supply, looks like there's one for chrome too now that Avast installed it(which I uninstalled):
-\\ Mozilla Firefox v26.0 (en-US)

[ File : C:\Users\Gary\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\t8d7llon.default\prefs.js ]

-\\ Google Chrome v

I am very proud to say that I found those awdCleaner files you requested and here they are:

Hi Scribehard,

EZTV supplies torrents of TV shows. They're very good and trusted. However, they went down for a while but we could access them through a proxy server, which is where the problems came from.
I have been reading a bit about EZTV and it appears to me to be just another file sharing site along the same lines as uTorrent and other P2P sites. As with any file sharing site you have no real way to verify that the files you are downloading to view are not malicious in some way. Now I do understand that you beleive the site to be trust worthy and am just offering my "2 cents" about file sharing sites.

With that said, do you have any success acessing EZTV the way you used to prior to using the proxy server?

In the mean time I am having trouble with my google account. My password stopped working, changed it and got in but has stopped working again.

Below is the firefox file I was referring too, it was in the adwCleaner file that you asked me to supply, looks like there's one for chrome too now that Avast installed it(which I uninstalled):
-\\ Mozilla Firefox v26.0 (en-US)

[ File : C:\Users\Gary\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\t8d7llon.default\prefs.js ]

Here is alink that explains what the prefs.js file is - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Prefs.js_file

Just because it is listed in a scan doesn't mean the file is infected

Thanks for digging out those AdwCleaner logs, :bigthumb: now let's continue ...

Link (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe)

* IMPORTANT !!! Place ComboFix.exe on your Desktop

Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with ComboFix.
You can get help on disabling your protection programs here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/security-center/virus-trojan-spyware-help/490111-how-disable-your-security-applications.html)
Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
Your desktop may go blank. This is normal. It will return when ComboFix is done. ComboFix may reboot your machine. This is normal.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ensure your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications are re-enabled.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: If you encounter a message "illegal operation attempted on registry key that has been marked for deletion" and no programs will run - please just reboot and that will resolve that error.

Hi OCD
EZTV is back up and running again as normal, but I won't be using it until we get these troubles sorted.
I deleted Chrome after Avast installed it because I prefer Firefox, which is what I use. So I tried deleting my cache through Firefox, but it kept crashing. I uninstalled it and tried reinstalling it and each attempt failed. So I installed Chrome and am having no problems, so far. What an interesting exercise that was! The email links are working again with chrome.
Here is the combofix report and thanks again:

Hi Scribehard,

Since you would prefer to use Firefox. Try these steps below to remove Firefox completely, then reboot and attempt to reinstall Firefox.

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj590/OCD-WTT/bullseye_zpse9eaf36e.gif (http://s1269.photobucket.com/user/OCD-WTT/media/bullseye2_zpse2245433.png.html) Show Hidden Files & Folders in Windows 7

To show hidden files, just click on the Organize button in any folder, and then select “Folder and Search Options” from the menu.
Click the View tab, and then you should select “Show hidden files and folders” in the list.
Then click OK.

Exit Firefox completely
Go to the Control Panel > > Programs and Features
Select Mozilla Firefox (all versions, one at a time) and click Uninstall
You may be prompted with and option to "Remove my Firefox personal data and customization". This will also remove your Firefox user profile data (bookmarks, passwords, cookies, extensions, preferences, etc.)
DO NOT select this option if you want to keep your Firefox profile data and settings.
Delete the Firefox installation directory located here: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
Delete the Firefox folder that contains temporary data located here:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox (if it exists)
Remove the Mozilla Firefox desktop icon if it still is present.Re-Hide Files and Folders

Reboot your computer to ensure changes have taken effect.

Hi OCD
I did everything you said but firefox still wouldn't install. So whatever was stopping it is still causing problems.
Thanks

Hi Scribehard,

Let's try this ...

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj590/OCD-WTT/bullseye_zpse9eaf36e.gif (http://s1269.photobucket.com/user/OCD-WTT/media/bullseye_zpse9eaf36e.gif.html) Revo Uninstaller Pro

Please download Revo Uninstaller Pro (http://www.revouninstaller.com/download-professional-version.php) and save it to your desktop.
(This version is a fully functional, 30 day free trial)

Windows XP : Double click on the icon to run it.
Windows Vista, Windows 7 & 8 : Right click and select "Run as Administrator"

From the list of programs click on
Mozilla Firefox
Chose "Uninstall". When prompted click Yes.
Make sure the advanced option is checked... then click Next.
The program will run, when prompted... click Yes... then Next.
Once the program has searched for leftovers click Next.
Check ONLY the bolded items on the list then... click Next... then Yes.
When done click Finish.
=========================

Reboot, then try and do a new install. Report back the results

Hi OCD
Mozilla Firefox didn't come up in the list so I guess there's nothing left of it.
Thanks
Gary

Hi Scribehard,

OK, this is proving to be a bit stubborn. But let's continue ...

Go to the Start menu, in the search box type Mozilla Firefox, delete all instances found, then reboot.
If none found then there is no need to reboot.
Go here (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/) and locate the version applicable to your situation, download and install.
Reboot and check the integrity of the install.

If that still doesn't work, we will continue our focus on making sure the malware has been removed then we'll revisit this issue and find a solution.

Hi OCD
I'm wondering if it might be best to deal with the malware that spybot has been having trouble with from the beginning, as mentioned in my original post. Just now, I did another scan, fixed the problems and scanned again. The 4 items are listed below that spybot is unable to fix.
Thanks
Gary

Hi Scribehard,

Since I don't use Spybot I have been trying to deterimine if the items you are concerned about are reason for concern.

Here is some information from a Spybot Advisor Team member:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?68304-System-Scan-won-t-fix-items&p=439562&viewfull=1#post439562

These entries appear to be Usage Tracks. Although you select these for removal, they will be regenerated after you reboot and use your computer. But from what I have been reading they don't appear to be reason for alarm.
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?68304-System-Scan-won-t-fix-items&p=439615&viewfull=1#post439615

Three of the items you listed are shown in the links I provided above and classified as Usage Tracks.

Windows: [SBI $1E4E2003] Drivers installation paths (Registry Change, nothing done)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\Installation Sources

Windows: [SBI $1E4E2003] Drivers installation paths (Registry Change, nothing done)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\Installation Sources

Cache: [SBI $49804B54] Browser: Cache (1) (Browser: Cache, nothing done)

This one I have found this information about.

Log: [SBI $8E73A7FB] Install: setupact.log (File, nothing done)
C:\Windows\setupact.log
Properties.size=728

Properties.filedate=1391892314
Properties.filedatetext=2014-02-09 07:45:13

Contains information about setup actions during the installation.

Hi OCD
I read the information and if you and the spybot guys aren't concerned about it then I'm OK with it too. It's just that spybot wasn't able to remove this level three threat, which was a concern, plus I wasn't able to do quite a few things. However, your new firefox link has worked. Yippee. I used the British English version rather than the US English version which suits me better anyway, and all seems fine.
Don't know if we're finished yet but I really appreciate your time. Thank you so much.
Kind regards
Gary

Hi OCD

plus I wasn't able to do quite a few things
Can you explain this statement? What were you unable to do?

Nothing more than what we’ve already talked about:
- I'm also having trouble with google, they don't seem to be able to recognize my email address/username. Don't know if that's related but that's what I'm working on at the moment.
- In the mean time I am having trouble with my google account. My password stopped working, changed it and got in but has stopped working again.
Also, links in my emails won't work. Message says Windows can't open, needs to find out what program is needed to open it. Works if I copy the link into my browser.
- I prefer Firefox, which is what I use. So I tried deleting my cache through Firefox, but it kept crashing. I uninstalled it and tried reinstalling it and each attempt failed.
All those issues are now resolved :)

What are the critical updates?
Not sure what was critical but it wants to update: Adobe air, java runtime environment and VLC media player.

Hi Scribehard,

Malwarebytes found and quarantined this-
PUP.Optional.PCPerformer.A
C:\AdwCleaner\Quarantine\C\Windows\System32\roboot64.exe.vir

I rebooted, deleted it from quarantine and her is the Malwarebytes log-

As you can see by the portion of the file path I've highlighted this file was already contained in the AdwCleaner quarantine folder, so it was of no harm to you.

The remainder of the files listed by the ESET scan are also contained in the AdwCleaner quarantine folder and will be removed when we finish and do our tool clean-up.

Hi OCD

I uninstalled and re-installed adobe flash player. It didn’t ask me about google drive so I don’t know if that was installed in the background. I haven’t uninstalled google chrome since installing firefox so that may be why. I just uninstalled google chrome. Adobe also installed McAfee Security Scan Plus, which I don’t usually like because I find it behaves like an invasive pest, so I uninstalled it.

I didn’t think the MBAM log was the correct one but I couldn’t find anything else.

Found it :)

Everything is running well. Thank you.

I'm not sure how I should protect my computer in general. I'm using Avast as an anti-virus program but I'm not sure what I'm using spybot or malwarebytes for? Or if I have or need a firewall? I see explorer is using an antivirus/firewall but I use firefox.

I don't want these programs slowing myself or my computer down. Obviously I need protection but can you suggest what to keep and what not to and how to use what I keep? Thanks OCD.

Hi Scribehard,

I'm not sure how I should protect my computer in general. I'm using Avast as an anti-virus program but I'm not sure what I'm using spybot or malwarebytes for? Or if I have or need a firewall? I see explorer is using an antivirus/firewall but I use firefox.

You should always have one (1) Anti-Virus & one (1) Firewall installed and running at all times to get maximum protection. There are many Free versions of both out there, so there is really no need to get a paid subscription to either a Anti-Virus or a Firewall. Both the Anti-Virus and the Firewall are installed on the computer. So regardless of which browser you use, you are protected.

I now have a myriad of new security programs on my computer and haven't a clue what to do with them: OTL, SecurityCheck, ERUNT, AdwCleaner, ComboFix, Malwarebytes, Spybot and Avast. I don't want these programs slowing myself or my computer down. Obviously I need protection but can you suggest what to keep and what not to and how to use what I keep?

Most of these are generally removed during our clean up process. But I will give you a brief rundown on each of the above mentioned programs.

Some of these will be removed due to the fact that they are only recommended to be us with the guidance of a trained helper.

OTL: is a general scan tool that without extensive training will be of little use to you after we are done, so it will be removed.
Security Check: does basically what the name says, check for installed security programs and also flags some out of date programs that are use as a conduit for malware.
ERUNT: Backs up your Registry prior to doing some repairs just in case something goes wrong you have a reliable copy of the Registry to fall back on. It's always good to back up the Registry anytime (prior to) changes being made.
AdwCleaner: targets adware, miscellaneous toolbars that are added unbeknownst to the user.
ComboFix: complex tool for diagnosing and removing a variety of malware. Should never be used by someone not trained in the proper way to use it. A mistake could render your computer and expensive doorstop. This will be removed.
Malwarebytes: a good on demand scanner that is good to keep around and run periodically. Good to keep.
Spybot: scans & blocks spyware & adware. Free version is on-demand.
Avast: is an Anti-Virus program that runs and scans in real-time. You can also schedule complete computer scans ans well as on demand scans. This is a keeper.

So you have a choice on some of these if you would like to keep them on-board. They all have a relatively small footprint so they will not bog down your machine.

Removals:

OTL
Security Check
AdwCleaner
ComboFix

Optional:

ERUNT
Malwarebytes
Spybot

Not Optional (unless you are changing programs)

Avast - your anti-virus software
Keep you Windows Firewall enabled, unless you choose to change to one of the Free ones I'll include in my All Clean speech.

With that out of the way, we have 2 items to address from your Security Check log.

Hi Scribehard,

Spybot is 2.0.12.0, update 2.0.12.89. What is a tea timer anyway?
Spybot – Search & Destroy does not offer a TeaTimer or LiveProtection option. Currently you can use Spybot 2 as on-demand scanner. Maybe later versions of Spybot 2 will include a realtime scanner.

=========================

With the above items taken care of let's move on to the All Clean part of the process.

The following procedures are recommendations for helping to keep your system running smoothly. If you are currently satisfied with how your system is running some or all of these may not pertain to you. Implement what you need.

This infection appears to have been cleaned, but I can not give you any absolute guarantees. As a precaution, I would go ahead and change all of your passwords as this is especially important after an infection.

Any of the logs that you created for use in the forums or remaining tools that have not yet been removed can be deleted so they aren't cluttering up your desktop.

Here are some tips to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future:

Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:

From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
Click once on the Security tab
Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
Click once on the Custom Level button.
Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
Make your Mozilla Firefox more secure - This can be done by adding these add-ons:

NoScript (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/noscript/?src=ss)
AdBlockPlus (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/)

Use and update an anti-virus software - I can not overemphasize the need for you to use and update your anti-virus application on a regular basis. With the ever increasing number of new variants of malware arriving on the scene daily, you become very susceptible to an attack without updated protection.

Free Anti-Virus

Avast Free Antivirus (http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.html)
Avira Free Antivirus 2013 (http://download.cnet.com/Avira-Free-Antivirus-2013/3000-2239_4-10322935.html)
PC Tools AntiVirus Free (http://download.cnet.com/PC-Tools-AntiVirus-Free/3000-2239_4-10625067.html)
Ad-Aware Free Antivirus + (http://download.cnet.com/Ad-Aware-Free-Antivirus/3000-8022_4-10045910.html)

Free Firewall
Using a third-party firewall will allow you to give/deny access for applications that want to go online. Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. Simply using a firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly. A tutorial on firewalls can be found here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial60.html).

Online Armor Free (http://download.cnet.com/Online-Armor-Free/3000-10435_4-10426782.html)
Agnitum Outpost Firewall Free (http://download.cnet.com/Agnitum-Outpost-Firewall-Free/3000-10435_4-10913746.html)
Comodo Firewall (http://download.cnet.com/Comodo-Firewall/3000-10435_4-75181464.html)

Make sure you keep your Windows OS current. Windows XP users can visit Windows update (http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp) regularly to download and install any critical updates and service packs. Windows Vista/7 users can open the Start menu > All Programs > Windows Update > Check for Updates (in left hand task pane) to update these systems. Without these you are leaving the back door open.

Consider a custom hosts file such as MVPS HOSTS (http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm). This custom hosts file effectively blocks a wide range of unwanted ads, banners, 3rd party Cookies, 3rd party page counters, web bugs, and many hijackers. For information on how to download and install, please read this tutorial by WinHelp2002 (http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm)
Note: Be sure to follow the instructions to disable the DNS Client service before installing a custom hosts file.

WOT (http://www.mywot.com/) (Web of Trust) As "Googling" is such an integral part of internet life, this free browser add on warns you about risky websites that try to scam visitors, deliver malware or send spam. It is especially helpful when browsing or searching in unfamiliar territory. WOT's color-coded icons show you ratings for 21 million websites, helping you avoid the dangerous sites. WOT has an add-on available for Firefox, Internet Explorer as well as Google Chrome.

Finally, I strongly recommend that you read TonyKlein's good advice So how did I get infected in the first place? (http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/index.php?autocom=custom&page=How_did_I)

Please reply to this thread once more if you are satisfied so that we can mark the problem as resolved.

My computer is running well again and I'm full of confidence with it.
Thanks again.
Kind regards
Gary
