I just ran my first scan and it will not complete. It took about an 1.5 hours to reach 99.9% and has been stuck there for the last 24 hours. If it means anything this is the file it has stopped on:
C:\Users\Neil\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\97c2g4jf.default\extensions\{aad50c91-b136-49d9-8b30-0e8d3ead63d0}\Chrome\CT3153924\content\tb\al\wa\SEARCH\view\style\rsx\ie8.png
I attempted to download Java Runtime Environment for a program I was using. I never did get JRE installed, but got a raft of malware for my trouble.
Any help appreciated.
Neil
If the scan's been stuck for 24 hours you might want to stop the scan.
Then try again. If you haven't already, try running with administrator rights:

If that doesn't work out, this post shows how to run a spybot scan in safe mode:

Thanks for your reply.
I have done that and this time it made it to 100%, but continued to run (apparently stuck on another file). I haven't seen it end yet; I assume it says "finished" and displays items found?
If you have the scan page in overview, then the top button changes to Show scan results.
If you have it in show details, then the Fix Selected button becomes clickable.

If the Spybot scan won't complete, you might want to ask for help in the malware removal forum. :)

Well, I have tried to run an initial scan nine times. It continued to stop on the same file. Out of frustration I purchased Spyhunter4. One scan - 934 issues found and corrected. No more problems, AT ALL.
No, I'm not a Spyhunter plant.

Glad everything worked out okay. :)
