Hi,

My uncle has asked me to take a look at his laptop because he is getting messages from Windows security center saying there is spyware on the computer.

I've tried to go through the usual process I use when cleaning up other peoples machines (installing SPybot SD, adaware, avg free edition), but somehow, it is prevent executables from running, so I can't install any of these. The task manager has also been disabled. I tried to find Windows Security Center in the services panel of Admin tools, and it isn't there. It seems to have been removed completely.

I'm going to take another look tonight at it, but I was just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction as to how to find out what's going on with Security Center.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Okay, I've now managed to install adaware and avg. I did a scan with adaware and a bunch of stuff got removed. I've done a scan with avg, and there's about 35 files identified but they wont delete or repair through avg.

Spybot wont install for some reason, and error comes up saying there is a mismatch in the count.

Here's a log from Hijackthis:
