Why The Comparatively Slow Speed?

I noticed that when I do a custom scan--i.e., when I scan an individual folder or file--Spybot certainly moves (much) slower than my other anti-virus/malware scanners.

I'm not complaining, but surely there must be a good reason for this. If there is, can anyone please tell me what it is?
