Free Version, New installation, problem with updates.

I am first time user of Spybot which I installed to try to fix a very odd problem, which I won't go into here, at least not yet.

First thing to do on a new installation is updates....it is also where I run into my first problem :sad: "An error occurred during Antispyware updates!"

Soo...I have run it again and run into the same problem. I would appreciate any advice, please?

Downloaded the new version today only to find it wouldn't install on Win 7

Try updating again.If it still doesn't work,there are manual updates available on the download page,listed under other downloads:

Downloaded the new version today only to find it wouldn't install on Win 7
What happened when you tried to install,did you get an error message or anything like that?

Its ok thank you, was something wrong with the downloaded .exe file it just said wrong version for this computer so i deleted it then downloaded another one and it installed ok.
Have however last night I reverted back to the older version as i much prefer that version.

Hi, I'm having the same problem and can't seem to fix it by downloading the manual updates (I'm assuming the destination folder for those is C:\Program Files (x86)\Spybot - Search & Destroy 2)

Your screenshot shows you're missing some of the antivirus signatures,and those aren't included in the manual updates,which is why it wouldn't work for those. :)

Those who still find this line in ther antiviraus updates:
[00:09.298] [-] Failed to install Spybot 2 antivirus signatures!
Please look for a spybotsd2-install-bdcore-update.exe in your Spybot folder and execute it.
This part of it is what you'd need.
I see you have a new installation of Spybot,so it may not be in there yet.But could you please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Spybot - Search & Destroy 2 and see if spybotsd2-install-bdcore-update.exe is in there.If it is,doubleclick it and follow the prompts.
