IE keeps replicating and using up memory - unable to kill virus

My laptop appears to have virus that keeps replicating IExplorer even when not running.It uses up memory to the point the computer freezes and shuts down. I can keep this from happening only by ending the process using task manager.

I have run several scan program, including Spy-Bot. I got rid of a lot tracking cookies and some junk files, but none of the programs have eliminated this problem. I had AVG installed when the virus apparently came aboard. I removed it as part of the process of trying to resolve this.

I need help getting rid of this.
