Hello, I have recently installed a new Hard Drive which I had bought from a computer shop. After installing the new hard ware, I tried to install XP, (which it wouldn't at first), after days and days it suddenly worked. After I had installed this I had then installed my broadband provider, which is needed to conect to the internet. After I had done this (which also took some time), I soon realised there was something up with my pc, It would randomly freeze my whole computer, I looked under 'Windows Task Manager' and under 'Processes' and realised that one of the files, ('SVCHOST.EXE'), was being run by me, and it had a CPU of at least 70-80+, I typed this on google and I found a website telling me it was unusal for this to do so, and it is probably some sort of virus disguising itself as a windows component, I decided to end task this file and this would stop my random pc freezing. Anyway, I had then found out by using anti virus programme that I had a Trojan on my pc, which would download spywae programmes, I think the programme it downloaded was called 'Quake', so anyway, I read youre website, which I normally find helpful just by reading what other users have put, but this time It hasn't helped, so I was just wondering if someone could help me. Sorry I have written so much, I was just trying to be more helpful.
I have also tried using 'SpyBot' which only came up with 888.toolbars and other things like that (It only found 3 programmes).

The main Programmes AVG pop up with are:
'Trojan Horse Dialer.CDL'
'Trojan Horse Downloader.Generic2.JVQ'
'Trojan Horse Downloader.Generic2.CXP'
'Trojan Horse Downloader.Generic2.JVP'
'Trojan Horse Generic.YSP'
'Trojan Horse Generic2.ALS'
'Trojan Horse Dropper.Generic.GRE'
'Trojan Horse Pakes.U'
'Trojan Horse Dialer.28.A'
'Trojan Horse Dialer.Zlob.DJA'

I have also tried formatting my Hard Drive to see if this would work, but the 'virus' was still present when I had finished installing XP and my Broadband, which sounds to me (sorry if this sounds stupid), like there is something wrong with either the XP disc I have or the Broadband disc.

hi dbibby88,

downloaded was called 'Quake',
spyquake maybe?

read thru this thread, download what you need and follow along. step 6? on requires a boot into safe mode so i would copy/paste the rest of the directions and save them so you can read them in safe mode?
