Hello.
I would like to confirm something that I just read on Wikipedia regarding the TeaTimer feature. According to the Wikipedia article on Spybot, it says that the TeaTimer module has been removed from Spybot and is no longer available.
Is that true?
If yes, then I have a couple of questions that I would like to ask:
1.) Has TeaTimer been removed from the old version of Spybot (i.e., version 1.6.2) and from the new version as well?
2.) What is the reason for its removal?
3.) Any chance that we might see it come back some day in a future release of Spybot?
4.) Has it been replaced with anything else that works in a similar way? And if not, are there any plans to do so at a later date?
Thank you.

It's true that Teatimer isn't available in the Spybot 2 versions, yes. It's available in the Spybot 1.6.2 version still,as far as I'm aware. :)
2.) What is the reason for its removal?
This is half a guess, and half vaguely remembering it posted somewhere, but I believe teatimer might not have been used anymore partly because other antvirus and/or other antimalware programs with it's own real-time protection began prompting for Spybot to be uninstalled completely, instead of suggesting to disable teatimer to avoid possible conflicts or any other kind of a different solution. There's a page about compatibility with other resident protection tools here:

I don't know,and haven't noticed anything posted about it.

Yes,it has in the paid versions. There's a page about that here:

Just as a matter of clarity, what functionality has been lost in S&D Free by the removal of Teatimer?
regards
Just the real-time protection functionality, that is what teatimer was. :)
This is the general description of what most variations of real time protection do amongst various anti-malware and anti-virus programs:

Thanks for the clarification

I just installed the latest version of Spobot Free (and restarted) and teatimer is still listed in the task manager processes list. How do I turn it OFF? It slows my system too much!
Thank you.
