View Full Version : system scan repeats itself endlessly

Hello,

I have been in roundabout limbo.

I have Home edition of Spybot Search and Destroy on a
WINXP computer (lol, sorta). I use Firefox browser.

I ran system scan on C drive. Scan completes to 100%,
then it restarts itself, stopping at 4.7% with 1213 minutes remaining.

I ran System Restore three times. No luck.

I recently installed a 2009 HP 4200 Officejetallinone (I know, luddite!).
But I followed the HP website on driver updates, installations.

Please advise. Thank you.

Lykele had something similar happen, and let the scan run through, and the time remaining was a bit of a miscalculation and completed within twenty minutes. This is their post here:

You might like to let it go and see if that happens in your case, also. :)

Hi!

I followed the link you pasted re Lykele's problem; sorry it didn't work.

I have since taken several actions:

I found a folder named AtuZi in my program files. (I found out it was a virus!) I deleted the folder; (I didn't find it in Add/Remove programs). I also deleted its' keys in my registry folder. Then I rebooted and did another C/ scan. Same result. Spybot started the endless loop after 100%.

I wonder why Spybot didn't pick this up, but what do I do now? Oh boy....

Thank you for your attention.

Hi. :)

I searched for AtuZi in Spybot's ignore list and didn't find it there, which might be why it wasn't found, though it's also possible that Spybot calls it by another name.
Just as general info,I found some other places listing atuzi as either adware and/or as a pup(potentially unwanted program).
Sounds like you removed a lot of it yourself, but if you'd like to make sure it is all gone and/or if there might be leftovers of it,then you could ask for help in malware removal.

If you wish to do that, then please see here:

This is malware removal:

If you post in malware removal, then you can return here when you all done in there, and I'll either refer you to Spybot support for the looping problem,or see if I can help myself. :)
