The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "Irismedia.hosts" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:
Irismedia.hosts uses the CrossRider framework and installs a BHO (Browser Helper Object) in order to show advertisements.

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) or RunAlyzer (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=runalyzer) to locate and get rid of these entries.

Products that have a key or property named "hosts".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\hosts\background.html".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\hosts\hosts.ico".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\hosts\hosts-codedownloader.exe".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\hosts\hosts-helper.exe".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\hosts\Installer.log".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Irismedia.hosts uses rootkit technologies, use the rootkit scanner integrated into Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) 2.x or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) to remove them.

Folders:

The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\hosts".

Delete the registry key "{c0425618-68d2-407f-b52c-809d92ff8118}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Low Rights\ElevationPolicy\".
Delete the registry key "{ce4ca272-db99-4ba0-b9a2-26d7f64a0223}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Low Rights\ElevationPolicy\".
Delete the registry key "{e85aa5c3-3dec-4c87-8410-085c62486ebe}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Low Rights\ElevationPolicy\".
Delete the registry key "hosts" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
Delete the registry key "hosts" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\".
Delete the registry key "Irismedia" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\InstalledBrowserExtensions\".
Delete the registry value "Domain" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\hosts\Installer\".
Delete the registry value "hosts-bg.exe" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION\".
