I have a trojan horse on my computer that I have been trying to remove for the past 3 days everytime I get rid of it...it comes back....

I have used AVG,AdWare,SpyBot,Norton, and Windows defender....I'm running out of things to try.

I also tried to manually remove it but going into safe mood and removing it that way. I give up I'm lost and need direction....any help I'll be greatful for.

C:\Documents and Settings\Eric is the man\Local Settings\Temporary InternetFiles\Content.IE5\**insert_random_folder_name**\srv***[1].exe

(ie: srvmxv[1].exe)

this is immediately followed with a message from Norton or Windows Defender saying:

It has detected a virus on your computer.
Object Name: C:WINDOWS\TEMP\win***.tmp
(insert random hex for *** ie: win11D.tmp)
Virus Name: Trojan Horse (or Dropper)
Action Taken: Unable to repair this file
Action Taken: Access to this file was denied

Here is my HighJackThis Log File:

Welcome to the forum, the HJT log is not showing anything, so I need more information.

1) Let's start like this, if you still need help, move HJT to a folder and rename it as it may be a hidden Vundo infection causing the issue, though you have not mentioned the popups that usually occur with Vundo. Create a new folder on C:\ and rename it to say C:\HJT\Security.exe or something like that, if Vundo is hiding, that should show it to us.

2) Post a new HJT log once this is done, after you reboot. Please supply any additional information you think will help, including any error messages "word for word".

3) If you have resolved your issues, I would appreciate a quick post to let me know so I can have the topic closed.

Thanks

thanks for the quick reply to my message...there was a time when I got a bunch of pop-ups and stuff advertising anti-virus software, however after using Adware,Spybot,Norton, and AVG they dissapeared. You mentioned pop-ups, there are occasions where is looks like a blank browser windows opens and then closes...maybe it is somewhere on the destop and I can't see it and that is causing things to happen?

No messages from auto-protect have come up since I turned my computer on to post this message. If a message comes up I will post it "word for word" on this thread.

Here is the new log from C:\HJT\security.exe -

Thanks for returning the information. You do have a Vundo infection and you can see it now along with another trojan.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\awvtu.dll <<< Vundo trojan
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winwea32.dll <<< trojan

Let's remove Vundo first, then we will do the rest. Please follow the directions:

Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with the fix.

Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

If there is a file VundoFix doesn't find we need it submitted. Please submit
the files to upload malware http://www.uploadmalware.com

Make sure the computer has been restarted and post the two logs bolded above.

Thanks

Check your Java program for an update, this is how Vundo is probably getting in, see this:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=12880&postcount=2

That second trojan must have been associated with Vundo, I see it was removed by the fix:laugh:

Your HJT can be renamed to HijackThis.exe if you wish and appears to be clean of malware. If all is running well, then I would say you are good to go.

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=279

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

Safe surfing...tashi:) will close the topic in a few days.

Thanks...pskelley
