The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "Ad.RebateInformer" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:
Ad.RebateInformer installs a browser helper object (BHO) to the Internet Explorer and creates URL links to 'www.rebateblast.com' or to 'www.rebateinformer.com'.
Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd), RunAlyzer (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=runalyzer) or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.

Entries named "RebateInformer" and pointing to "*.exe*".
Entries named "RebateInformer" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\RebateInf.exe /STARTUP".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\Firefox\brand.json".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\Firefox\chrome.manifest".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\Firefox\chrome\skin\logo.png".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\Firefox\chrome\skin\style.css".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\Firefox\install.rdf".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\Firefox\lib\RebInfFF.dll".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\Firefox_Old\chrome.manifest".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\Firefox_Old\install.rdf".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\RebateI.dll".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\RebateInf.exe".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\unins000.dat".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\unins000.exe".
The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\unins000.msg".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Ad.RebateInformer uses rootkit technologies, use the rootkit scanner integrated into Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) 2.x or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd) to remove them.

Folders:

The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\Firefox\chrome".
The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\Firefox\lib".
The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\Firefox_Old\chrome".
The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\Firefox_Old".
The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\Firefox".
The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer\Update".
The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\RebateInformer".

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "RebateI.Rebate Informer BHO", plus associated values.
A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "RebateI.RebateInformImageGen", plus associated values.
Delete the registry key "{4EF645BD-65B0-4F98-AD56-D0437B7045F6}_is1" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\".
Delete the registry key "{AF808758-C780-404C-A4EE-4526323FD9B6}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
Delete the registry key "{CCB69577-088B-4004-9ED8-FF5BCC83A039}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
Delete the registry key "{CCB69577-088B-4004-9ED8-FF5BCC83A039}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
Delete the registry key "Rebate Informer" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
Delete the registry key "Rebate Informer" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\".
Delete the registry key "rebinfo" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PROTOCOLS\Handler\".
Delete the registry value "rebate_informer_wp@rebateblast.com" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\".
If Ad.RebateInformer uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=regalyzer), RootAlyzer (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=8) or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=3).
