Cannot delete folders and files using Windows Delete or Unlocker or BC Wipe.
Messages like Long Folder or File Names, No Files or Folder found, Folders or Files is Damaged or Corrupted, run checkdisk, access is denied, there has been a sharing violation, it is being used by another person or program, write-protected, the file is currently in use when it is actually not in use. etc etc.
Does anybody has any ideas how to force delete the folders or files?
Can the directory entries be force removed?
Windows actually does not erase the content of these files - it only deletes references to these files but the content of
all deleted files remains on the disk. Can the directory area of the hard disk be edited to remove these references?

Hello yoongcs,

Let's break this down a little. :)

Are you using an administrator account.

How is the computer running in general.

To clarify, I take it these are not system files?

Was there any particular event that happened before you noticed an issue.

Best regards.

I am using an Administrator Account. It is a local account for the computer. The computer is independent of a server. The computer hard disk is partitioned in C and D Drives. The issue happened on the Drive D and the portable hard disk and the solid state pendrive. The files are not system files. Some files are names copied from the drive and some files have nonsensical names.

The files is stored on the last subfolder. The folder has a subfolder and the subfolder has another subfolder and on and on (a few subfolders way down the line)

I can delete the folder on the D dirive, BC Wipe create a folder and move the undeletable folder and files into the created folder. BC Wipe said cannot delete, want to delete on restart. On restart still not deleted. I then deleted the created folder using Unlocker.

However this process does not work with the portable hard disk and the solid state pendrive.

The computer appear to work normally as a local computer independently and also as a computer connected to a network. Scanning the folder with Avira, Spybot AV, Symantec Endpoint get the result no malware or virus.

Hello yoongcs,

If any members here believe their computer is infected we have a Malware Removal Forum (http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22) FAQ: http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288

I'd suggested you posted at WTT in the Microsoft Windows™ (http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?showforum=119) forum for tech advice so they could start troubleshooting, every issue is not always caused by malware.

Therefore I moved your topic at WTT to the Windows forum.

Best regards.

Hi, you cannot delete folder and files because you do not get the administration account.

Ok, go into My computer and find the location of the folder or file you want to delete. Go into Properties, check Security, click Advanced, enter Owner, click Edit, change the owner of the folder to current Administrator, and click Ok.

Then, you need to back to Security, in the Group or user name, delete other options except administrator and click Ok.
