Hello! I've been using Spybot Search and Destroy for the last 12 years or so. When version 2.0 was released a few years back I tried it, but was disappointed with the number of tools that had been moved behind a pay wall. Specifically the loss of the Secure Shredder, System Startup, System Internals, Scheduler, and most importantly...the loss of Teatimer in the Free version of 2.0.
As such, I returned to the 1.6.2 version and have continued to use it to this day. Given that 1.6.2 still receives definition updates, is there any practical reason I need to update to version 2.4? I know the new paid version has AV protection, but I've been using Avira Antivirus Free Edition for that purpose as that is what had been recommended years ago on this site. Thanks for your time.
