Spybot fails to prevent/remove hoho/mpc search

In spite of regular updates and immunizations, my laptop was hijacked by HoHo and MPC fraud search engines. Spybot on-demand scan even failed to detect the infection. Had to remove it by MBAM.

It is good practice to have more than one anti-spyware-malware program adding layers of protection as all software has its own definitions.

(Which doesn't apply to an anti-virus of which only one should be resident.)

Do you know how both search engines got on the computer. Hohosearch and MyPlayCity may be bundled with other software: Optional Installs
