View Full Version : Virusburst infection
I'll start off by saying that I work on my truck......not my computer, you'll have to excuse my lack of computer knowledge. I recently was infected by the "virusburst" trojan. I have gone through the instructions on this site about using Hijackthis, smitfraudfix, ewido, and spybot. It appears to have solved the problem (no more b.s. virus notifications). At the end of the instructions it says to start my own topic and post the rapport.txt, ewido log, and hjt log. Is this so you guys can analyze it? Again, sorry for the lack of knowledge, I just want to make sure I'm posting something relavent and not just a bunch of stuff that no one needs to see. Thank you! Bryan

Hello Bryan and welcome to the forum. I will post the instructions I give everyone with a Smitfraud infection and you can do with it what you wish. I can tell you that it is rare to find only the Smitfraud infection, usually there is other stuff that SmitfraudFix cannot remove. By looking at the SmitfraudFix report, we can see if it is the newest version and was applied properly, and successful. The ewido scan report tells us much more about anything else that was on the computer and often will point out stuff that it can not remove that needs special treatment. The HJT log lets us see a picture of the most often used areas by hackers so we also know the HJT log is clean.

Welcome to the forum, follow the directions in this link: http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=4015 When you finish the instructions, post the three logs in this same topic using the "Post Reply" button.
Spybot-S&D: Be sure to follow the directions to save the scan report but do not post it here unless requested by a helper.
Thanks...pskelley
