For a few years I've been using the free version of Spybot, updating it every week or two and then running it. I thought it only fair to pay for it so did that. However I find the instructions now quite impenetrable. It seems to check for updates every five minutes but when I tried to change the frequency, to gain more control over my computer, I could only find references to "products" but no explanation of what "product" means. The leap from the free to the home edition seems a step too far and I need a simpler way of learning how to set up and use this program.

Hello checkmate, :welcome:

Have you seen the FAQS, perhaps they will help. :)

Best regards.

Thanks for your reply but I am sorry to say I find the FAQ's just as confusing though the link you have given me does look more comprhensible. I thought I had managed to stop Spybot updating every time it is switched on but I have not succeeded and the computer is completely swamped for the first five minutes then Spybot keeps the Updating symbol lit for the rest of the day which might account for the slowness of the computer since I downloaded this. And I am still having to clear our PUP's every week. I do think I was better off with the free version.
