View Full Version : Cannot Update Spybot

I have been using Spybot SD v 2.5 successfully on my Win 10 PC for the last five months. Now when I try to update it it is saying “No update log found! Spybot Search & Destroy could not download any valid updates…” I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Spybot. Please advise what to try.

I am having the same issue. I had the free edition and was getting the error and then upgraded to the Home Edition and am still receiving the same error. It will not allow me to even run a scan at this point. Deleting and re-installing has not helped at all.

Same problem here with my free edition - cannot start scans and will not update.

I can't find much on the update logfile not being found. If you follow this, does it still say there is no update logfile? :)

You can probably try updating manually, that might work for the time being:

Thanks for your response. I don’t know how it happened but after following your first suggestion it now seems to update and run a scan. I opened Spybot in Administrator mode, Advanced User was already selected, I went to Update and clicked on Show Update Log. The Update.log file opened so I tried running a scan. At first it wouldn’t run but on the second attempt it did. I thought maybe it was Administrator mode that made the difference so I opened Spybot in the normal way and it again updated and ran a scan.

I’ve also kept your link to manual updating info.

I’m a bit mystified but you seem to have solved the problem so thanks again!

Well ,how about that. I'm as mystified as you are, I never dreamt that would solve it, but I'm glad it did. :)
