Hello
I have a Windows 10, I7, 8Gb, SSD Asus gaming laptop with Spybot Free.
The application log is full with the following message every second:

Log Name: Application
Source: SecurityCenter
Date: 1/11/2016 5:27:43 PM
Event ID: 15
Task Category: None
Level: Information
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: PumpApps
Description:
Updated Spybot - Search and Destroy status successfully to SECURITY_PRODUCT_STATE_ON.

I have uninstalled SS&D, Ccleaned registry & temp files, & reinstalled. No good.
Only other security software is Norton 360 installed on this machine.

Thoughts?

Hello Reemul,

Search results show a similar issue being reported by users of various security programs when the operating system is Windows 10.

Rather than a successful update being reported as in your log it is often shown as an error in updating and hundreds of events.

Do you have the Win10 Anniversary update?

You could open a support ticket so the problem is noted: https://www.safer-networking.org/support/ticket/technical/

Best regards.

Yes. :)

I have the same issue with the same configuration - only difference is I use the German versions.

In my Eventviewer it's updating 2 times per second, which may cause a loss of performance and an unwanted CPU workload.

Windows 10 with current updates and Spybot is current.
Laptop seems to be slow but haven't verified this is the cause.
The Application Event Log is 20 MB of almost exclusively this message. Only goes back to the evening of Nov. 12.
Nothing else looks interesting in this or other logs. Excluding this event and searching for spybot has zero results.
No results for Spybot in System Event Log since installation in Sept.

Hello awertheimer,

Windows 10 Home

The Windows Anniversary Update started to roll out via Windows update in August 2016, have you received the update yet?

I have this problem, makes me worried about how many CPU cycles are being stolen for this.

I'm running Windows 10 version 1607 (OS Build 14393.447).

I really want a resolution to this because the event log is my first go to tool for troubleshooting issues, and at the moment Spybot has effectively broken the event log.

Became aware of the problem today and wrote a fix :)

Please check this preview version of the update:

https://download.spybot.info/Spybot2/special-purpose-test-versions/SecurityCenter/

If it works fine (did so in inhouse tests) it might become part of the next updates.

Happy to report that after running the update the event Log message spewing has stopped and I get exactly one of the events after a reboot as expected.
If there is anything else that should be tested prior to including in an official release please post. Everything appears to be functioning but I haven't spent any time checking general operation. Thanks!
