Hello
Once in a while this warning appears on the Action Center and it seemed OK until a month or 2 ago.

Now it has started again and I cannot get rid of it.

Yes, I can Turn Off Microsoft Windows Defender, but why can't I have it on and SB fix this problem?
What is the reason SP is avoiding it?
Curious now.

I also found out that Microsoft believes SB is a Windows XP II ed. program!

Of all the muck we get from Microsoft, that is one thing that actually works or used to work well.

Any idea?

Thank you
:santa:

Hello spybotto,

Which version and edition of Spybot do you have installed please: https://www.safer-networking.org/private/

Also, what is the operating system, is the warning from the Windows Action Center?

Best regards. :)

Hello Tashi

1. Spybot + AV Home edition 2.5.42.0 Licensed - Start Center 2.5.42.130
2. Windows 7 Home Edition 64bit
3. yes, Warning from Windows Action Center as mentioned

Please bear in mind that Spybot is running.

It is only the annoying alert and I wish to keep Defender as it is the most decent thing Microsoft did or at least I believe it is.

Thank you

PS the strange thing is when I had Microsoft check the program, it states for Windows XP II ed. - I am guessing it is probably 'not' Microsoft Certified?!

If I am understanding you correctly you have two anti virus programs running? Defender and Spybot + AV Home edition.

You'd need to choose one Live Protection: https://www.safer-networking.org/faq/live-protection/

I haven't heard this before, can you provide more details please.

Best regards.

The 'windows XP II edition shows when you use Windows Program Compatibility Troubleshooter, which I tried just to see what happens.

I understand about the 'Live' protection. but strangely it only started the last few months and I had the AV Home for over a year - if I am not wrong.

Anyway, I will have to do something ...

Thanks

ADDITION:

After switching Windows Defender OFF and it is off, as if you try and run it, it says it is off.

Then I disabled its service.

Now I still get the same warning AFTER rebooting and this time it is NOT showing icon !

I can see the following programs running within Task Manager:
SDFFVC.exe
SDtray.exe
SDupdSvc.exe
SDWSCSvc.exe

Aaaah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
It is now getting funny.
