I have been trying to install the free version, since last night. I complete the update, and when I try to scan my system I am redirected to the update. Again, I try to update, but the update states that I am updated. I uninstalled/re-installed... Now, when I try to update the below is what I am getting. The update has been stuck on that process for almost 3 hours. I went ahead and stopped. I snipped a view for your review.

I just installed the free version, and have been having the same problem as the original poster. When I start a scan, it says "Missing Signatures". When I Update, I get:

"[00:17.793] [.] Trying to retrieve update info file from http://updates3.safer-networking.org/spybotsd2.uid...
[00:18.795] [-] Did not retrieved update info file (attempt 3 of 3).
[00:19.797] [.] Info file part done.
[00:19.800] [+] The antispyware signatures are up to date.
[00:19.801]"

I am running Windows 10 on a PC. I have tried running everything as Administrator (which hasn't helped). Is there some setting I have to change, or is this happening because I had to re-install SpyBot after an older version mysteriously disappeared from my PC?

Hello JudySpock,

I know you did run as Administrator. :)

Spybot – Search & Destroy Update Failed
If your issue has begun since upgrading to Windows 10, or installing a new update for Windows 10, see here (https://www.safer-networking.org/faq/windows-10-removed-spybot/).

The Spybot updater can fail from time to time on its 1st attempt to download the latest updates.
Please try to update again:

Open Spybot by right-clicking on the Spybot icon and choosing the option to “Run as Administrator”.
Tick the checkbox beside “Advanced User Mode” on the bottom of the Start Center.
Click on “Update”.

If the Updates fail on their 1st attempt, please click the update button again.
You should also disable any other security programs that could be running which may interfere with the Spybot update, causing it to fail.

If this does not work, this could be a proxy issue.
Please go to:
Start Center > Settings (tick “Advanced User Mode” if you do not see “Settings”) > Internet Protection
In Internet Protection, please untick “Use Spybot Proxy” and “Use own proxy to download updates” if either of these is ticked.
Click “Apply” and “OK” and restart Spybot.

If this does not work, please go again to:
Start Center > Settings > Internet Protection

In Internet Protection, please tick “Use own proxy to download updates” and choose the option to “Import proxy settings from Internet Explorer”.
Click “Apply” and “OK” and restart Spybot.

If this also does not work, please contact our support team (https://www.safer-networking.org/contact/home-edition-support/).
