Hello rcb56, :)

"Bitdefender Threat Scanner.dmp"
If you receiving the following message, it is possible that one of Spybot’s files has become corrupted and needs to be replaced.

https://www.safer-networking.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/bitdefender-300x118.png (https://www.safer-networking.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/bitdefender.png)

To fix this issue:

Please go to the Spybot program folder and check if a 32kB “SDAV.dll” file is present.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Spybot – Search & Destroy 2
If the file is not present, please download this file from our “Missing Files” page (https://www.safer-networking.org/support/missing-files/), and copy it into your Spybot folder to fix this issue.
This file may have been removed accidentally by another antivirus or security program installed on your PC.
If the file is present, please check the file to see if it is the same size as the attached file. (32KB)
If the file has been corrupted, please replace it with the attached file.

Best regards.

hello tashi and thanks...i took liberty in reading through here the other day about what you just told and/or check to see if the file was the same size. it wasn't as the one i had was 12KB as opposed to the 32KB. i d'loaded the file here and removed the other. now i haven't had problems since doing so, i thought i should mention to juliet about the bitdefender prompt and that i still get the runtime error prompt usually when spybot closes. i'm going to be out a little while today and will check for your replies when i return. thanks.

Could you clarify please, did you download and replace the file today after I posted or previously?

You haven't had problems since you replaced the file or you do when closing Spybot. Any other program?

Best regards.

yes tashi, i'm sorry i've not had problems with spybot and it's live coverage running wild like i did since i replaced the file. first i removed the original then replaced it on 1/21. the only odd thing is the runtime error 216. i didn't know if the bitdefender dmp file needed to be seen nor did i know how to send it. do i delete that file?

Hello rcb56,

i didn't know if the bitdefender dmp file needed to be seen nor did i know how to send it. do i delete that file?

You don't need to send it as it is a known issue. :)

Is the dmp file in your Windows temp folder, usually temp files are cleaned out.

the only odd thing is the runtime error 216.

Regarding the runtime error 216. I read your topic in the malware forum and I see you mentioned, "plus after spybot scans and i close it i get the run time error window. windows keeps prompting me spybot isn't running and to turn it on or choose an av to use."

Could you take a screenshot of runtime error 216 please, thank you.

Best regards.

ok tashi i cheated a little...it seems the only time the runtime error shows is when i close spybot after a scan. i didn't want to wait 4 hours so i started spybot and a new scan then stopped it. then the bitdefender error popped up and i killed it and this popped up. if that's unfair or inaccurate i can watch next time i scan and then close and see if it pops up...just let me know. thanks

Sorry but I am confused, I thought after you replaced the "SDAV.dll” file you no longer had the BitDefender error?

It might be best if you open a support ticket. :)
